UPDATE: 5/19!! Review: ULTRAFIRE HD2010 from Tmart (warning: lots of pics!!)

There certainly are and you can get the light plenty of other places for $35 but you won’t get them shipped from the US for that price. The TK41 also has a $120+ price tag so it’s hardly a fair comparison. I just hope they have enough in the US warehouse right now so there aren’t too many people getting disappointed if they run out and have to ship from China.

From talking with Louis it seems they are just starting to focus efforts on the flashlight market. There will be some growing pains for sure but I think it will pay off for them in the long run. They are used to poor flashlight sales and are hesitant to invest a lot of money in stocking lights if they don't sell well. If they offer the good lights their competitors do and keep them in stock at there other warehouses at the same prices as the competition they could really kick some ass.

Great Review..

The big head on that light will be good for bicycle applications too..

i am not into such large lights .. but i see the quality of the review itself. Great job!!

Great Review, JohnnyMac, thanks for posting! I love the light, especially the gunmetal color. cehoward is right: Looks like a great cycling light. I'm holding out for a 3 mode with no disco, which I detest having to go through while riding.

The battery tube looks a lot like the battery tube for the JM07 Pro.

I here that mines getting a driver swap the minute I get it in the house. I thought those east drivers were direct drive on high, that kind of scares me with a King Kong capable of delivering over 10amps.

:( :( :(

At 18:26 pushed order button.

Results missed out No Such Code!

So will start the search to find one else where.

The heaviest current draw I get is ~5.50A from a battery space LiNiCoMn, but thats only if I press the +B spring completely down flat.

If I just touch the probe to the -B it draws 4A, so I think this is a more fair representation of this lights current draw with a low resistance 26650. Factoring contact resistances, resistance from the wires + switch and driver efficiency... I am not sure what current the LED "sees". My light does get warm after 6-7 minutes but its not what I would consider alarmingly hot.... so I think theres "something" throttling the current to the emitter, and its definitely not getting the full 4-5.5A I measure at the tail.

You ran it like this? LL5GHUFU

Nice review on a cool light. Thanks.

That's definitely direct drive, you are reaching the limit of what an XML will pull at 5.5 amps with the resistance of the spring and the emitter wires in the way.

OK thanks Eric... I just sent you a PM.

Regarding your custom 3.5A driver, do you think thats too much current for an XML in the HD2010 host? Would I be better off using one of your lower current drivers?

thanks!!!

Great review JohnnyMac, and thank you for getting us those coupons... Mine is on order. Thanks again....

To my eye 3.5 seems to be the sweet spot you have to consider driver losses even if they are 90 percent efficient you are only getting 3.2 to the emitter at 3.5amps at the tail cap.

I am looking forward to seeing comparison beamshots!!!

Fab review. The measurements and detailed pics are a big plus for modders. Cheers!

Very well done, Johnny! Thanks so much for your hard work on this review.

Frontpage'd and Sticky'd.

I've checked Ultrafire's official website and I can't find the model HD2010 in their product line-up. I'm just curious. Is this reviewed flashlight a cloned Ultrafire, or is it so new that it still is not incorporated in its official product line-up?

Made a couple small updates to the original post.

Thank you for a very nice review. Seems like a very nice light indeed considering the price tag. And it seems you got a genuine ultrafire since it is nicely made. Whenever I buy a ultrafire light that costs a little more at a respected source I get lights of good to near perfect quality. When I skimp a few bucks and buy from some oddball seller I get crap. Go figure :-)
