[STOPPED] Astrolux S43 UV-C groupbuy

My main interest lies in the ability to detect onter minerals, not in gettinghand cancer.
Signed up though my order will depend on price and specifications.

What are the specs of the LED?

I’m interested in the emission spectra, bare LED as well as OTF.

I think they will be putting some cheap 395nm chinese leds and some glass to filter out everything above 280nm or whatever is the UVC limit,
because the $30-50 price sounds too good to be true…

That would be way to inneficient, not to mention the cost of a filter like that

On the other forum, Acebeam has annouced a UVC 3535 275nm X80.
As they call it: “protect you from virus!!”. LINK
I could not find it on their website (yet).

With an almost unreadable warning like “wear protective glasses”.
That’s almost like selling guillotines to challenged people, saying it’s a cure for headache.

The owner use glasses
the others not-

My personal opinion is
that this flashlight is a dangerous and unvisible weapon

keep it out of the reach of childreen
and stupid peoples.

When you have childs
it would be better to put the light in a safe
or didnt buy it !

i see the dilemma...

in times where people eat tide pods to challenge strangers how to protect them from dangerous things?

but still give sane people the possibility to buy knife and forks, screwdrivers and other tools?

i told banggood to have a lot of warnings (no toy / keep away from kids etc) on the page and product
other suggestions?

M4D M4X, thank you for your reaction. First: I’m still as interested in it as before.

This type of light needs more than just (special!!) protective glasses.
When working with this light, you need to protect your whole body. Gloves etc.

I think this is a useful LINK.

thanks!

Seriously, these warnings about danger are getting really annoying.
Every person here is assuming all the others are dumb, and that only they know the dangers of UVC.
And many of you exaggerate things. Sure UVC is dangerous, but it isn’t going to kill when you shine it on you. Exposure time is a important factor, for both skin and eyes, and it’s not like people will sit and watch the light for hours.
Did you watch the bigclive video on youtube? He exposes himself to 20W uvc lamp that produces ozone for minutes.
And he was talking about a concert in south korea where some idiots put UVC lights on the stage and people that were close experienced bad pain in the eyes for a few days, but they didn’t die or go blind.
How come nobody has problems with 20.000 lumens lights? It’s not like they are safe to shine them in your eyes either

Is this 3535 led any good? How does it compare to Klaran?

I don’t know. Your guess is as good as mine.
Just pointed out the announcement of an X80 with 275nm UV-C emitters on the other forum.
It was not on the Acebeam website. The one shown there is an X80 with 365nm Nichia leds.

The only real purposes I see

- disinfection of kitchen things like cutting boards, especially wooden ones

  • disinfection in lab that deal with bacteria and viruses

260nm is way more deadly than 275nm, every nm counts

Any specs on this one yet?

MF01 with probably 12 UVC LEDs has 54mW
just a clear window no optic :person_facepalming:

How close to the surface do you have to hold it and for how long?

How long does it take to blow up their little virusass microbe bodies…

Just wash your hands with some 1% hydrogen peroxide if you are worried, or wash all surfaces with it.
You can wash your face even or do mouth rinses
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Colgate-Peroxyl-Mouth-Sore-Rinse-Mild-Mint-8-45-Fluid-Ounce/14150018

Just don’t drink it or think that it will cure of you an virus infection once you developed the symptoms.

I’ll stick with my approx. 11*W* lamp with good ol’ tubes for the time being :smiling_imp:

Cost a lot though, so I’m glad it’s not obsolete yet

But how about some new information from the (far) east, regarding the title of this thread?

if i had news - i would share them...
