2xAA driver?

So I found my old Dereelight Javelin 2xAA P60 host and I figure I should build it. I really only see two options out there, both on Fasttech. One is a 5-mode 800ma driver the other is a single mode 500-800ma driver. Are there any other viable options? Initially I was going to yuji an old P60 but all of my old spares look brand new. Hate to gut a brand new bulb… I’d like to build something very simple with a low mode and a high mode, no memory. In a perfect world I’d like to pull 1C from a pair of eneloops on high but given the lack of options I’m sure I won’t get that lucky…

I like that 1-mode 800mA driver. Works nicely with 2×AA. (Less current with 1×AA.)

I’ll probably try it, just want to be more versatile. Any thoughts on best moderate to high CRI LED for 800ma drive current?

I like the 4000k LH351D 90 cri for its high output and decent beam color.
The 5000k is decent also. Retains lots of output with high cri.

Interesting, I just picked up a Malkoff MDC 2AA body and VME head and I need someone to build a custom P60 dropin for it. I couldn’t really find a driver, do you know any users capable of building a P60 with a 2AA friendly Top quality (the Malkoff body and head weren’t cheap, need top quality components) driver?

I wouldn’t exactly call them a quality boost driver, they are a decent boost driver in my opinion.

It’s not brilliant but is ok and does have fast-ish PWM (when i first got it i thought it didn’t have PWM but started noticing it in reflections) and i haven’t used it that much so can’t comment on longevity, but it is the best option i’ve been able to find, has a couple of group options, and is much better than the slow-pwm, badly spaced drivers you’d normally get in AA lights so definitely worth a look.

I did have a problem with the driver but it looked to be under a very specific circumstance which shouldn’t happen in normal operation.
