90 mm is in line with their biggest lights, I wonder if that’s intentional to use the same head design or meet some manufacturing or shipping maximum. Maybe that’s the largest bar stock they have on order lol.
My guess is that their primary audience is more main stream than flashaholics looking for ultimate throw. For the same reason Nitecore lights like a lot of their Tiny Monster models are cool white only.
:person_facepalming: Been messing with it since Sept/Oct 2019 when the SBT90.2 was the rage, tried boosting the stock driver so I could keep all the electronics… just a PITA pulling everything out and putting it back together, like 5 levels of electronics and switches have to be routed correctly to fit all that shit’in a tight space and not cut/destroy/fry anything, what a nite mare of an assembly process… :rage:
Then the mechanics…. machining the copper heat sink, fitting the mcpcb, tabbing the contacts, positioning the Copper threaded Heat sink LED/mcpcb, focusing, machining the reflector, (because it was threaded into the head) to help facilitate focusing… :person_facepalming:
But it’s done, works very, well pretty happy with it and the reflector is still pristine….
I’m glad they have one option with sealed cells and one with a pack to serve everyone’s needs. I’m also happy to see they seem to have used the UI from the EC4GTS that I loved.
^ Definitely a lot more expensive than similar lights with something like an XHP50.2 emitter. There is going to be a decent discount with a code, but I recall the light still being fairly expensive at around US $90 (with code).
So definitely not cheap, but I believe it’s a killer emitter.
