New Nitecore TM39 and TM39 Lite Discussion

$59 seems unlikely to me…

I’m glad they have one option with sealed cells and one with a pack to serve everyone’s needs. I’m also happy to see they seem to have used the UI from the EC4GTS that I loved.

I think Astrolux has one light also, with this led.

$59?! You can not even get a proprietary battery pack for that price!

Guaranteed they are over $100 to replace. At least for the TM39.

I forget which Olight it was. It cost ~ $120 to replace the battery pack for a light with similar size as TM39.

which light?

FT03S

So does the Nitewatch NI40-5000L/250Kcd for only $69. My favorite smallish light.

FT03 a nice small/mid ranged light

That light is coming up at $200 CAD for me, is that accurate?

^ Definitely a lot more expensive than similar lights with something like an XHP50.2 emitter. There is going to be a decent discount with a code, but I recall the light still being fairly expensive at around US $90 (with code).
So definitely not cheap, but I believe it’s a killer emitter.

So also in the Nitecore TM38 the Luminus SBT-90.2 LED has been implemented. Was it worth it? Since the price has now quite increased, what advantages are there in the TM39? Well, now the beam distance goes from 1400m to 1500m! As much as 100m more!!!

Unfortunately, in order to achieve this extraordinary improvement, the output had to be almost tripled (1800 —> 5200) so now the runtime is quite shorter and the light gets hotter. In addition, you can no longer run the turbo indefinitely. These are not upgrades!

But what is the criterion adopted by Nitecore for this new version? $500 for a 1500m thrower when there are on the market some lights that cost half as much and have an almost double-throw (Acebeam K75, Lumintop BLF GT90). Moreover, an increase of 100 meters is not even noticeable.

Warning: the specifications read that the Turbo and High values have been measured by deactivating the thermal control, so we do not know how long they actually last.

Hi Giancarlo, although the design of the flashlight has remained similar, it seems to me that there have been changes, see Oled displays and switches, although perhaps they do not justify the purchase from the previous model.
The TM39 should reach me for the review in the next few days and we see the tops of the discharge curve.

The design of the flashlight is changed enough to become ugly. It lost symmetry. I loved very much the design of the TM38. I really don’t know why they changed it. The TM26 never changed over 10 years despite the LEDs changed four times. What really changed in the TM39 is not the throw but the output, so they had to change the driver and the heat dissipation around the neck and head. Or maybe it was just a cosmetic change.

The TM39 will never be a real thrower if Nitecore doesn’t enlarge the reflector. But they wish to keep the light harmonious as it was the TM38 and not make ridiculous front-heavy lights like Astrolux MF04 or the huge BLF-GT or the horrible Imalent R90C. It is a dilemma. I think Nitecore renounced longer beam distances for a more proportioned light. Probably they changed the LED in order to have a larger hotspot and more corona.

The new design will have lost symmetry but I don’t mind. It seems to me that Nitecore has tried to update the LED with this new TM39 while maintaining compactness without exceeding in size. And if the declared 1500 meters are real it seems to me a good result. I saw a video of TM39 in action and I really liked it. It seems to me that they did an excellent job on the optics of the new flashlight combined with the high-performance LED LUMINUS SBT-90 GEN2.

Pls, can you send the link of the video? Thanks.

It has finally arrived. I did a luxmeter test at home over a distance of 10 meters. The values obtained are clearly higher than those declared by the house. In Turbo I measured 824000cd.

What version did you get?

The Nitecore TM39, we are talking about this. I hope my calculations are correct, I have to take an outdoor test.

Wow! How long does the turbo level last?

Hi Giancarlo, starting from level 4 (Turbo 5200 lm) the TM39 goes to level 3 (2000 lm) after 4 minutes and to level 2 (800 lm) after 20 minutes.

Very good! 4 minutes is a lot of time compared to the Acebeam K75 which only has 90 seconds of turbo runtime. Also, 20 minutes at 2000 Lm is quite good. Thanks!
