Fireflies E07 problems

I reviewed my FF E07 yesterday and after just a couple of hours of ha omg it the aux lights no longer work. One of the less burnt out. Because of the Corona pandemic I resorted to buying my FF E07 from eBay. The seller is a really nice dude, but he doesn’t do returns. And I’m not really willing to send it back to him and have him try to broker a resolution on my behalf with whoever he needs to. Any good advise will be greatly appreciated. He did suggest the possibility of buying the parts I need and attempting a repair myself( which I think I could do) but I’m not sure who has the aux board. Anyway help please lol

Sorry the image is a link. I couldn’t get it to display in the post correctly. So you just get a link lol

:+1:

You could ask FF if they could send you a led board and solder it yourself. I think FF is a member here!

Mention that you are a member here and refer them to this thread

Thank you, Will do!

Thank you

I am surprised this board works at all looking in the top section there is substantial mechanical damage to the Aux signal N-fet and C2 behind the LDO

I am able to make a replacement board or send you a prototype

How much would a replacement board be? I have sent a request for help to FF and am waiting for a reply from them, but I would greatly appreciate the alternative option. The light it’s self showed up with a couple of dings and scratches, I was surprised because the box appeared perfectly fine. But the light has minor seemingly superficial damage. But I didn’t think anything of it. I’ll update with pictures just to give you an idea. Either way please let me know how much your offer might cost me. Also do you happen to have or know where I can get a replacement lens. I VERY carelessly broke mine today showing a friend the board. I drop the lens on a concrete floor and it shattered(much like my hopes for a smooth process getting and using this light lol)

(Edit) the “damage” at the top is actually just thermal compound that smeared over the board when trying to reseat the optic. It was on the pegs of the optic from where it sits inside the board down in through to the main board.

That is not just thermal compound the parts are clearly almost torn off the board

You’re absolutely right!! I just took the cap off and the part fell out!

Lexel,

I have a FF E07, it turns on, ramps up and down, but I cannot change modes, no Blinky’s, no aux led’s or turbo (almost like in muggle mode).
I have tried new batteries, tried reset, tried different head. (I have 2 FF E07).
I am fluent in Anduril and I have done a few mods. Soldered drivers, aux led’s pcb, resistors and reflowed led’s.
I believe something is wrong with the driver.
Can I purchase another driver?

Thanks

I would like to know also where to get my E07 repaired. The rubber switch cover is torn and three of the four aux lights are not working. I looked at this closely and it is very evident that the workmanship was very poor. Solder work was sloppy and poorly done. However, it has been a great flashlight and I want to keep it. Just need to get it repaired.

I’ve tried contacting Fireflies and support is non existent. I will not support or buy another Fireflies flashlight.

Thanks, that pretty much answers my question. BTW I’ve bought Acebeam flashlights, and their support is excellent.

Fireflies had a bit of a rough time in 2020-2021 with shoddy equity control: missing thermal paste, galled/stripped, badly machined threads, poor part fit up, bad soldering/reflow. Some even got remanufactured ‘new’ lights. I have a E07 2021 edition, and the tail cap is an off color, but otherwise it’s fine.

If you can contact Jack in Facebook or something, he might get back to you. Otherwise, their CS is not good.

Jack/FF is semi-active on reddit now if you use it. There is /r/Fireflylite in addition to /r/flashlight

What’s all this now? So a few people still INSISTING on doing this with Fireflies, only? Hank had many of these exact issues in 2020-2021, continues to actually and even has constantly mismatched colored Ano parts as well as dings and scratches on new lights in addition to poor or cheaper ano. I see plenty reports of issues pop up with craftsmanship and faulty lights. But I don’t hear that being paraded around here the way you are doing it for Fireflies. If you’re gonna be like that and over-blow a tiny fraction of reports, then keep that same energy across the board. What about Simon’s stuff? All good in 2020-2021? We listing every minor issue people have sparingly reported too, or naw?

Fireflies are the shit and have amazing quality, performance and design. You telling people otherwise over a handful of issues you heard over the course of a few years is disrespectful AF when ppl are trusting that you’re gonna be honest. Or at least be consistent about it with every one else, if you’re gonna shit on one company for this, make sure you do the same with others too. All companies have many of these issues too. You’re out here acting like Fireflies doesn’t know how to make lights, when the truth is that they actually make as good, or better lights than just about any maker on the market.

I have 20+ Fireflies, so I might have a wee bit of insight on wether these issues are something to actually be worried about on the regular or not. And the facts are simple. You don’t have to worry about an issue with Fireflies any more than you would with Hank, Simon, Barry, Wurkkos, Zebra or whoever else you want to mention. EVERYBODY makes a dud here and there. So cut it out and stop acting like these issues are exclusive to Fireflies. I’ll put my FF up against any other comparable lights around here. FF has had some issues early as a company, but acting like if they aren’t the most forward thinking and community leading enthusiast brand around is either pure hate or pure ignorance. I don’t mean no disrespect to you personally, just setting the record straight just like people around here would if someone came and said some unfair shit about Hank or Simon or Zebra or whoever.

Trashing a company that’s been putting out serious enthusiast bangers that have set bars for every other company to match, that many still haven’t even been able to yet, ain’t normal or right. Fireflies are the MF shit, everyone is still playing catch-up with them on many of their lights. If you aren’t also mentioning that when you talk about them, you probably just don’t know enough about them.

To be objective about it, FF has had some repeated issues with service and taking care of issues…difficult to reach, sometimes ghosts customers, etc. That’s one big difference between FF and the others you mentioned. Maybe along the same lines as Neal in that communication and replies are just very difficult. That obviously goes for several others, too. To be fair, it seems like a lot of “newer” folks don’t quite understand that failures and difficulty in addressing those are sort of the norm in the “budget” light market…stings a little more if you’ve paid more for the mid-priced lights like these, and maybe a stings even more if you are unable to solder/diagnose/repair on your own. Some people assume that the amazon/walmart process for returns and warranty is the same all over the globe. Everyone has their issues - customers and manufacturers alike - it’s just nice when both work together in a friendly way to resolve them, and that’s where some of those other companies shine the brightest (no pun intended), with quick communication and options for resolution…they tend to reply and keep communication open unless somebody is a real jerk (although with some larger companies like Sofirn and Lumintop you occasionally have to reach the right person instead of an entry level CS agent).

Glad to see FF still in action. There was a time or two where people were wondering if the brand was going to dry up. He certainly has made some great lights and leaned toward enthusiasts’ desires!

Yes @correllux FF just need to work on their CS otherwise I don’t have any issue with them at all. Jack is not running the business solo he has a team of at least 2 members. Now that Jack is quite active on Reddit, it is an alternative method to communicate with him and so far I get faster response time from there compared to email.

I’m not trashing the company as much as pointing out bad workmanship on my flashlight AND lack of repair and support.
