Sofirn Q8 group buy (gb closed, but try PM to Sofirn for discount)

Does anybody know where I can purchase the needed equipment to flash Anduril on my BLF Q8 (currently on NarsilM) and update the Anduril of my Sofirn Q8 and LT1 Batch 1?

Also would be nice if emitters were replaced with XPL-HI 5000/4000k or LH351D 90CRI 5000k.

how about 9pcs LH351D 5000K 90CRI to make a Q8 Pro 10000 lumens, with charging port, compatible with QC3.0 charger and PD fast charger?

A flood monster!

What sets the Q8 apart from the big floody lights is two things:
a) the price. It is relatively cheap for a light with this output, and you get a robust quality flashlight
b) it is relatively throwy. Because the 4 XP-L’s (or XP-L Hi’s in the Sofirn Q8) are driven hard, the hotspot is pretty bright, not far from some dedicated throwers even.

What happens if you make it 9xLH351D is that the dies are larger, the reflectors are smaller, and the individual leds are driven less hard. In other words: it will be a very floody flashlight, and there are already many of those. But if the price is good it will still be attractive compared to other floody 10K lumen lights. and the 90 CRI of the LH351D makes the light quality stand out too.

To maintain a bit of throw you could also consider an option for 9x SST-20 leds (my preference would be 3000K 95CRI). You get a bit less light but a brighter hotspot.

4* XHP50.2(3V) vs 9* LH351D (another version can be 9*SST20)

Which do you guys prefer?

Dunno, there are quite a few big LED count flooders in this general size. I'd like to see a thrower head w/SBT90.2, ~80-90 mm head diameter, that fits the 4P battery shell of a Q8. Same driver would work.

hmmmm…. both sound very interesting:D
was going to build a 4 x XHP50.2(3V) my self, so i would go for the 9 x LH351D :sunglasses:

:+1: :+1: :+1:

I have an LK04 XHP50.2 quad - it's 3 cells but still a lot in common to the Q8 form factor. There have been Q8 quad XHP50.2's mods done - it is a nice upgrade but I'd consider a bigger, wider head and max out the reflector cup widths to boost throw - don't think there's quad XHP50.2 lights out there in the 60-70 mm head size . Like djozz said, the Q8 offers that nice combo of flood and throw and flooders are common already.

Still like the single LED thrower head though - actually a bump up to 90-100 mm head diameter would be ideal. The 4P batteries and the heft of the Q8 design would make a decent host for a SBT90.2.

So a quad XHP50.2 Q8 in NW if possible, little bigger head, bigger reflectors, and a even larger head for a single LED like the SBT90.2. Those two options would be great! I realize of course the cost/price goes quite a bit up.

Let’s try the 9x LH351D… This would be a bit similar to the Fireflies ROT66 gen 1 which has 9x LEDs, but Q8 has bigger body so should be able to handle more heat.

4x XHP50.2 = there’s the Haikelite HK04 that uses 4x XHP50.2, not sure how well it is though… But XHP50.2 seems to produce some “artifacts” in the beam, so I’m not sure if 4x XHP50.2 on the Q8 will also have artifacts or not… 4x XHP50.2 would also be a floody light, wouldn’t it?

I wonder which will be more floody, 9x LH351D or 4x XHP50.2?

I'm not dead set against a 9*351D of course - it should be more floody than a quad XHP50.2, but somewhat dependent on the optics and what 351D bin is used. As d_t_a said above, it should handle the heat better and have more a better power source (4P batts) than those more compact multi-LED lights out there.

Its really easy to flash a Q8, but OEM would be nice.

As for Q8 mods or variants, id be happy with an XHP70, SBT90, or a triple XHP50. A 9x 351D mule would be cool too.

Q8 4x50.2 3v you will get the tint shift in lower to mid levels to say about 6000lm when white wall hunting…

But at 16000+ lumens it all go’s away specially outside, inside you’ll pretty much blind yourself

what tint did you use ? i have a bunch of 5000k 50.2 3v on the way from sofirn

Cutter K2 1D

I thought it said on the paper work from Cutter it was like 5230K something weird like that? It was the warmest tint at that time I could find…

The Sofirn 21700 Triple is using the Cutter 50.2 3v 1A 6500K…

KB - I hope the 21700 is on the left and the Q8 on the right in the beam shot pic, while you show the lights oppositely in front of the keyboard?

It's a spectrum of color....

Well, I guess that's not a good thing

Correct… It’s not that bad outside… but still I mostly BLAST Turbo… it’s just a TOY…

Yep agree, it is what it is. The whole great tint, great beam thing doesn't apply too well to these XHP50.2 3V's, but they do put out a ton of light. XPL-HI's are still my favorite for good look'n beams, while for tint, there's a bunch of choices for low output great tints with various pros/cons.

Yep I agree with that. My modded XP-L HI and XHP35 HI are my favorite Go-To lights… (sure I have a few CRI orange and pink pocket fondlers (EDC) lights) Meh there ok for close work.

I did a Q8 and SP36 with Hanks XP-L HI V4 3C’s I like the tint and the throw…
