Recommend a compact 14500 light with warm, floody beam?

Simon may make you a Convoy T2 with that emitter.

If he makes a 2700k batch for BLF, I am sure they would sell good.

Only if it comes with a new UI! i doubt many people like the current UI offered in the T2. As Simon has plans for a new AA/14500 driver, maybe it can be possible!
The T2 is a great host!

Very interesting… I need to check out the Convoy T2 and S2+. Are emitter swaps in those lights fairly straightforward?

And, please tell me about Simon?

He’s wonderful.

Light of my life.

Never mind.

You don’t need to mod the light, Simon Mao runs Convoy and can put together what you want if you ask him nicely. He has an account here: http://budgetlightforum.com/user/30339

Pat… thank you so much for the thoughtful, courteous, and very helpful reply! That’s exactly what I was hoping to receive. Excellent, sir.

Sounds like Simon is a very fine member of the flashlight world, doing good things for flash-aholics, world wide.

I don’t need any more lights at this point, that’s for sure. :disappointed:

And, I have realized that I already have two lights which wonderfully meet the criteria I have been seeking.

Olight S1A Baton, Copper body, modded for me by Vinh, with a XM-L2 T5 5D1 tint and optic. Beautiful warm tint, very wide central beam, with very soft edges transitioning to spill. Runs on an AW 14500 IMR.

And, I just installed an XP-G2 3000k tint emitter in my EagleTac D25A clicky, giving a very warm, soft beam.

Both of these lights meet my needs for a warm, soft, 14500 power indoor light. Very compact (D25A is incredibly compact, edging close to AAA light size, and extremely light too.).

The S1A Baton Cu is very heavy, but that feels luxurious, great in the hand, and the copper is gorgeous.

That said… I’m drawn to the On The Road lights now - just checking them out for the first time. Looks like they make some nice ones.

Seems like you have two nice lights there
I just wanted to inquire about the OTR lights you’re thinking about ! They have very nice quality, although their UI is not so good as the ones you mentioned above!
I have their recent OTR 311 on the way to meet the other ones I have :innocent:

I had one on order… twice… and cancelled both after delay after delay. “Ships in 3 days”, then “ships in 2(more) days”, then… ’til I just gave up.

Became a chicken’n’egg thing. I asked when it’d be in stock, and I’d order it then, got back an answer that they get “in stock” when someone orders one.

Wait… what?

No issues whatsoever with getting refunded, happened within a day, but it’s just annoying to have those ever-moving goalposts.

Wellp, I got enough small lights, did I really need another one? Guess not.

Where were you buying it? BG or AE?
I order mine 2 days ago and yesterday the shipping note was created (it gave the tracking number already). Bought it from AliExpress store, as in BG it is almost twice the price.

I guess the flashlight has some nice features, but I am also tooking to mod it. In-built charger for 16340 is a nice option though, and it will have the advantage over the M3 Pro, as it will not have parasitic drain (mine has a huge one…).

FT. Been too scared to order from BG anymore, and AX just pisses me off.

At least when FT claims something’s shipped, it’s shipped. You even get an actual pic of the package with its tracking code, etc., no game-playing.

@ Lightbringer:

So I wanted an OTR, but without coughing up too much dough. From some posting on the forum I got one of these:

They are not M3 Pro. Different UI.
Long click for ON or OFF (hey, it makes sense - no accidental turn on in pocket), click for low (100lm), med (175lm), hi (375lm). Mode memory. Added bonus mode: double click for auto-ramp, click to hold / resume, double to return stepped. Blinkies in triple click (didn’t test)

They do seem to have an XPL NW led and I very much like the mode spacing. Also, they didn’t overkill the output so the run time is about 1 hour on high (but that is calculated). The beam seems very reasonable with no artifacts and very little tint shift.

Now I’m waiting for some Vapcells 16340 / 800mAh to review the cute little fellow. The construction seems good but the threads are shallow.

P.S. the pics have AE links

Interesting, but ironically it ain’t that much cheaper. At all.

17bux and 5 for shipping is 22 for the AEFJ (?).

23bux and 0 shipping from FT.

Ach… I might just give FT one more shot, see what happens.

Oh! 0 tax from FT. Count on at least 2bux more “tax” from AX (“the AX tax”??). So that brings it up to 24 vs 23, so more expensive from AX.

One more reason to tell AX to piss off.

Sorry to get you riled up.

I’ll be looking onto the FT models.

PS I got the w/out battery shipped for $20 CDN (~$15 USD) from Skarner Store, but they’re sold out.
Also, better UI. But that was a gamble to decipher the gibberish from the description.

Much that I like the disposition of FastTech website, the numbers (:money_mouth_face: throw me off. Like the M3 lists at $25. but on the spec sheet is $31… But again in the cart it returns to the list of $25. This can’t be the conversion rate as our dollar is no more than a few pesos.
I do like the options on the right collect all the models, no searching around AE.

But a caveat; they don’t seem to actually have anything in ‘stock’. They rely on the manufacturer to (drop?) ship.
Had a good and lengthy back & forth when ordering my MiBoxer C4-12. Took some 6 weeks to sort out then another month to actually get the parcel.
But true, actual picture of package and they kept the price as advertised (although the model had changed and was some dollars more).

Hm? I wasn’t “riled up”.

I’m kinda like Samu L Jackson.

Yep, one-stop shopping that way. You can get everything from a flashlight to vape-juice to s3x t0ys(!!) to hot-pepper seeds, all in one order. Doubt there’s a FT warehouse that carries all that stuff at once.

Which today would be considered express shipping…
