[Review] JetBeam RRT01 2019 (Rotary EDC, 18350, Almost Perfection?)

But they didn’t think about people who want 18650, and a rotary switch.

Actually you can choose 18650 also...

the extension tubes might fit the 2019 version as well, threads look identical

hopefully it will be sold as a spare

Jetbeam sold me a spare part for a different light. All it took was to email them (info at jetbeamlight.com) and to pay the invoice. My contact was very knowledgeable.

If the new battery tube fits the old 2019 head, I’ll order it.

Thanks for the info Unheard. I hope it’ll be compatible.

Yes, but I said about rotary switch only. Without tailcap.

I wrote to ask jetbeam, they said no:
“Extension tube is not suitable for 2019 rrt01 .”

Of course the real test is to buy it and see if it fits. :stuck_out_tongue:

They wrote so as to encourage you to buy the new version

I wonder if the slots around the tail cap on 2020 version are large enough for tritium vials. Interesting light as I’d the switch. Did the older models offer Nichia 219C as well as this one?

here is the info on the 2020 model (on right)

and the 2019 model (on left)

pic (not to scale) is a link to more info on the 3 versions of RRT-01

no one has the 2020 model in hand yet, so we dont know the size of the lanyard slots… to my eye, they look larger than a 1.5 x 6mm tritium, pure speculation…

the 2020 is the first to offer 219c, and tailswitch

If it’s smaller in diameter then it’s mine. Hope there will be a GB. Thanks for the infos.

the original has the smallest diameter…

Wish I had one. Really not happy I couldn’t get one at an (to me) affordable price. Guess this won’t change anytime soon. Fingers crossed the 2020 is somewhere between both in dia.

yes, not cheap
I hope you find a way to get your hands on one

a couple of thoughts… to help you to make peace with the price:

after I bought my first RRT-01, I stopped buying clickies
I have saved a lot of money… LOL!

“the taste of quality, lingers long after the price is forgotten”

The new 2020 RRT01 is now listed at FT, but its quite a bit more expensive than the 2019 model (even with MAP coupon code).

In the pictures it looks like there is a small hole in the control ring, very odd. Anybody have a guess what that is about?

Strange...

It says in description “5 mode” and not mentioned about extension adapters...

From FT description:

Depth 25.7 mm
Height 91 mm

Same diameter, 10mm longer. Jetbeam, you may keep it.

I know you’re right. Still would have a very bad conscience spending 100 EUR or more.

Does anyone know how the new tail switch works and interacts with the regular on/off exactly? Is it just a momentary turbo?

No reviews yet so no way to tell.

That said, I highly doubt there is a secondary inner tube contact to the tailcap like in an FW3A…. which means the tailcap switch is likely not electronic and can’t control the driver in the head of the light.

My guess is the tailcap switch is a simple forward clicks like in a Sunwayman V11r. The ring lets you set the brightness before using the switch to turn the light on or off.

If they use a forward clicky the light should also have momentary available in all modes.

Rotary with tail switch (and stock option for a very decent emitter) puts this in much closer competition with the HDS Rotary, at least interface-wise.

Considering this is now only one of two lights I’m aware of with fine/continuous output selection from off with a tail-switch for activation that makes the price fairy attractive.

The size/weight for each battery format is competitive also, with the added benefit of much higher output than an HDS.
