KD (kaidomain): Deals and new products thread

Without actual tint and color rendering tests of the current CSLNM1.TG batch from Kaidomain (or anywhere), it can be hard to precisely determine those parameters by the naked eye.

Crap I copy/pasted the wrong page! Im running the 2mm^2 OSRAM KW CSLPM1.TG 5P-FCBB46-15 WHITE 5400K which as you can see is binned, according to the KD info, specifically at 5400k, not a range like the 1mm^2. That actually makes me a bit more on edge, it’s just so far above 5400k it’s hard to believe it’s within spec and not gone AngryBlue™.

Both lights with them installed (both are exhibiting the same AngryBlue™) are running at 6.8 and 7A. Should be well within safe range.

Right, and I’m not claiming “oh jeeze these things are 6341k” or anything like that. I have no test equipment other then a lux meter nor do I care about specifics. I’m also not targeting 5400k precisely that if it’s not exactly there I’ll be upset. I’m just worried about a bad reflow job cause when I shine them on a white wall next to a knows 6000k CREE XM-L2 they’re several shades more blue.

I have the drivers set to single mode only 100% and when I first fire them up over about 1sec the blue seems to get deeper (and then hold at that level for the remainder). So far I’ve only ran them 20-30sec at a time for fear of killing them.

KD reflows on 20mm boards, good heatsinked hosts, genuine AS5, MCPCB’s screwed to shelf.

I’ve used one of the 5400K 2mm WFs from kaidomain and there is a significant blue/purple tint. I don’t think there is anything wrong as far as overheating. Another user had the same concerns with the LED color as you a few weeks ago.

I have a feeling the LED is way below the BBL which gives it that tint. As far as color temperature I think it’s hard to tell when the tint is way off the BBL. So maybe it’s not as cool as it first looks? Try it outside, I actually came to like it.

Here’s a test I did on a 1mm2 from L4P long ago, very high CCT on all of them I think.

LoL contactcr, these are way off CCT specification figures. How the reflector plays with the output spatial distribution matters, there is a huge difference between hotspot and spill. Did someone cared to notice angular tint shift in these Osram emitters?

I’m still waiting for an order I placed 80 days ago. KD keep asking me to wait. An order I placed a couple of weeks after this one took 46 days to arrive. I’m not being unreasonable in demanding a refund, am I?

An order you placed 80 days ago ecotack? Well, now that I recall I have two pending small orders from FastTech, one of them placed march 23 and shipped march 30 (78 days total, 71 in shipping). Regular mail.

I have a friend working at my local post office which last week told me they were receiving/delivering packages from February.

I have never lost a single shipment, no matter if untracked. I'll wait some more weeks.

I’m still waiting on some AliExpress stuff from February and early March. There were a couple shipments that never showed a single tracking hit. Those got disputed and I got my money back. But if there’s been any hint of the seller actually having shipped the stuff, I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt as shipments are certainly backed up. I’ve seen a lot of headline horror stories about the shipping industry lately. As for me, I’m just going to sit back and be patient.

I can’t speak for the UK, but I’d say what you’re experiencing isn’t unheard of right now. Sucks, but that’s the situation we’re in.

Oh! Well, just re-checked my order list in AliExpress, I have another pending shipment from March: SY13678311930. Had to use manual carrier selection (SunYou). Tracking info on 17track.net shows “expired”, if that is of any meaning. It really is an untracked shipment, but it can be seen how it actually was created, left the country of origin and arrived here. They are a couple flasks of corrosive steel soldering flux, hope it didn't ended up spilled over anyone's necklace. O:)

In all honesty, all of this should be more or less fixed by now. It is quite curious to observe how the fears of people have messed with this situation. Comparatively, I have used just a single respirator mask out of two which were given to me by my sister, because in our country we were forced to wear masks when in supermarkets and other places (LoL! ). But I am a believer, and don't fear death.

Hi. I want to buy Convoy M21C with XHP70.2 and I think to replace it with that Kaidomain version Hi Cri 90
But I don’t know what is the configuration of LED emitter on MPCB, is this 6V or 12V? Do you have any idea or KD used some sort of universal layout?

The default configuration is 6V or dies in 2S2P configuration, and it is dependant on MCPCB type. Kaidomain sells it on 6V/2S MCPCBs.

The problem with a lot of 12V/4S 5050/7070 MCPCBs found in the chinese market is that they route the current of the upper dies to the lower dies via the thermal pad, which leaves it at half the emitter electrical potential and rules it out as valid for flashlights without MCPCB insulation.

As far as I know only leddna (?) has dual voltage/arrangement 5050/7070 MCPCBs available, SinkPAD is the brand:

This pic is from djozz, grabbed from here.

Have you considered GT-FC40
I think it’s a nice option for many lights where high CRI and XHP70 footprint are desired.

It is nice option but Convoy driver is 6V. Also I desire more flood light with OP reflector of M21C. GT-FC40 is nice for thrower.
So KD XHP70.2 emitters are all in 6V confuguration if I undersood from Barkuti post?

Kaidomain has some cool new products for flashlight enthusiasts who want quad LEDs in the 20mm format:

Unfortunately the optics are >20mm and won’t fit the S2+, but you can put them in slightly bigger heads.

Thank you for this! Just nabbed a quad 219b 3500k p60 drop-in and some much need spacers!

These are not new (literally years old bad design) and often problematic quad boards/optics. When you assemble them be very careful about how the optic and PCB fits together. It can work it’s just not a drop in solution like you may be used to with the plethora of triple options.

XHP70x configuration depends on the MCPCB; I haven't seen a properly done 12V MCPCB in the chinese market with the exception of the above by LedDNA.

The GT-FC40 or other 4S/12V emitters can be driven with an H2-C driver (now upgraded, more powerful). One good thing I see in the H2-C driver is that it supports 2S battery input, or input from 2 cells in series. With 2S cells I am fairly sure the current output could be risen a good deal further without problems.

Too bad H2-C is 2.2A only.
I’ve been looking for a good driver for this LED and aside from 4S FET ones the only good option that I see is GXB100 - but probably only one was ever made.

The Convoy XHP35 driver was tested to be quite “overclockable” (see Convoy XHP35 Driver Analysis / Testing / Schematic). This new H2-C is still untested, but stock it works with 2S input which is a plus concerning efficiency and power input capability (double voltage by the current is twice the input power).

Looks with great modding potential, hope they didn't cheaped out on something with it.
