I want to mod Convoy S2

I am planning to add a bleeder for the flashlight. Convoy S2 has a black rubber on the button, so I cannot do it like the others do. How do you do it?

I have an idea to cut a couple or a little bit more rectangular holes on sides around the button to put 0603 LEDs and cover with resin, but I don’t have any equipment to do it.

1. Any ideas where can I put some LEDs to make them glowing constantly?

2. A cooler thing would be a pulsing light like a heartbeat, but I am not sure about the power consumption

You can buy lighted switches with clear boots to get a glowing tail cap. I am not sure if you could make it work with like pulsing though.

This is not a real DIY  It is just like changing tires of a car or something like that

Calling AAA is not DIY. Changing (not reinventing) a switch or tire yourself is.
Pretty sure the pulsing light would require an e-switch to implement.

I’ve added a lighted switch to an S2. It’s different than an S2+ since the switches are not the same. I recommend that you get an Astrolux 2LED 17mm DIY Lighting Switch Set for the switch.

The retainer rings for both the S2 and the Astrolux switch set will need to be used, but you will need to file down the 1 of them to get the flashlight tail to fit close to the body.

It’s a lot more work than adding a lighted switch to an S2+, but worth it since the S2 is such a great flashlight.

I’ve not done anything with lighted switches, but I agree, the S2 is a great flashlight. I have one that I’ve changed the reflector to smooth (from Simon) and added a Qlite driver (from Intl-Outdoors) and it’s fantastic.

I’ve never been able to see much difference between the S3 and the S2, so I’ve stayed with S2’s and S3’s (with the exception of a single S2 UV). I have a lot of Convoy lights and I’ve never been disappointed in a single one, ever.

Pro tip - Never, ever scan a hotel room with your UV S2+ (especially when your wife is with you!). Some stones are better left unturned.

Actually, when I stayed over at a motel after a friend’s wedding, I took out the UV S2+ with ZWB2 filter, and was very pleasantly surprised. Everything was wiped clean that even Caruso would be perplexed.

The only exception? The lightswitch near the bed. That had lots of “fingerprints” around it.

Everything else though — walls, floors, bathroom (tub, sink, toilet, floor, etc.), teevee (and remote!), table, door, etc. — were pretty spotless.

I was surprised to the point of being almost shocked.

From my modest experience it all boils down to the model of the driver in your S2.
If you have the good old (cursed by some) 3/5-mode driver you even don’t have to use a bleeder.
If you have the modern Biscotti driver the outcome is that either the tail light won’t work, or the driver won’t work as intended.

Is the rubber boot actually black, or just dark gray? If you hold it up to a light to “look through” it, can you see light?

If it’s not solid black but sort of translucent, you could wire up some 0603s with a resistor and some magnet-wire. Of course, you’d have to crank up the current to get them visible through the boot, but it’s doable.

I was gonna try hacqueing the blue switch-kit on a metal-button, to be visible (sort of) through the transparent-ish ring that goes around the button. Never got around to it, though, but I knew full well that it’d take more light out to get just a little to sneak through. Don’t care, as I don’t like lit switches that are too bright anyway (I call my Cometa the Blue Lighthouse).
