Has anybody tried one of these? I thought it looked like a good deal, but I could use the batteries.
I guess that link doesn’t work. It’s a Ryobi hybrid soldering station. 300°F to 900°F Can use with batteries or plug it in. On sale at home depot for $99 with free Shipping. It came with 2 4.0Ah batteries, a tool bag and charger.
3 year warranty, 180 day return.

The only advantage I see is if you are already vested in the Ryobi battery packs and needed a portable solution.
I looks like this is the interchangeable tip kind of iron. That, perhaps, takes Hakko style tips.
Without the battery option, such things can be had for much less.
The newer designs use a better heating - temp sensor arrangement that keeps the tip at optimum temps.
But, heck, with a 90 day return.
If you don’t like it, take it back.

If you’re already using a different brand of 18V tools you can modify a cheap attachment (I used a USB adapter) with an XT60 connector to run a TS100 soldering iron.
It has 2 of the high capacity 4 Ah 18V batteries with it, for the same price as they often put a pair of those alone on sale for. That makes it a good deal if you need more batteries.
The online manual says it is 45W max. It mentions an indicator light that shows when it is heating, so it might in fact have a temperature sensor on it to provide at least decent temperature control, but who knows if it is a simple thermostat or PID control.
I wouldn’t specifically seek it out, but again, if you already need more Ryobi batteries, you’re basically getting a soldering station for free.
And I’ve seen some pretty good reviews of several TS100.
Thing heats up quick and got fantastic thermal control, can use about any compatible external power brick or LiPo Pack…
If I didn’t already have a Hakko 888D that I’m extremely happy with I would get one 
Interesting concept…tempting. I’ve been using butane irons when I need portability. Those have the MAJOR drawback of having no real temperature control, however I rarely need that for what I’m using them for. The other thing I use the butane irons for is heat shrink tubing (the exhaust area works great for this).
At any rate, I may jump on this. I have a gaggle (very technical term, that) of Ryobi ONE+ gear
Edit/Update - ok, I was able to just walk in to HD and just buy the battery & station off the shelf, even though the website implied I couldn’t get it for a couple weeks. Not sure what’s up with that.
Also, the OP is just asking about the soldering station, but the deal is good for almost any ONE+ tool combined with the batteries, so if you don’t want the station but want a saw or something, you could still jump on it…
