As you know and as they say, when in doubt get both! Which is what I did.
I will say though that their 8CR is really very good and that combined with a well made ball bearing flipper is outstanding value.

those prices seem high on the artisan cutlery site compared to amazon, kinda like kershaws higher priced home site. I do think I will be getting one of those honey badgers tho, but having trouble deciding on drop point vs wharncleaver.
Thanks! The D2 is a good bit pricier, making the 8Cr13Mov more attractive. I hadn’t really considered it much in the past, but choosing a metal for a knife dedicated to certain kinds of use can make sense. Since the 8Cr13Mov is softer, I wouldn’t put it to use on hard duty, like slicing wood. At least it’s easier to hone & sharpen than D2.
I’ve been using this Lemifshe D2 “”mini buster”:https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/32024/4644” for a few months and overall I think it’s an excellent value. Too many knife choices out there, though… I’m tempted by so many!

I’ve been eyeing the new small Warncliff in D2. This deal got me to finally order. And I picked up a few sets of extra white scales so I can dye them any color I want

Looking forward to see how Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon (FRN) scales take to dye.
Really well from what I can tell. I’ve seen a few different results on YouTube. Here are videos for dye projects involving the Honey Badger in blue, purple, and blue plus a nice deep red. Zach’s purple went really dark and he recommended not leaving them in so long. LTK’s video is long because he does a whole batch of knives. You can skip ahead to the Honey Badger results at 29 minutes and see the full batch comparison at about 30 minutes.
Any of you guys watch Nick Shabazz for his knife reviews on YouTube? He’s quite a character. But certainly VERY experienced & knowledgeable. Sometimes he rambles on, but I do like his reasonably objective stance on knives. The good, the bad, the ugly categories are usually well thought out. This guy has TONS of knives, many in the multi-hundred range (some nearly $1,000 USD due to limited editions). But, he has a soft spot for budget knives. He also does many knife take-down videos which are immensely helpful.
I’ve watched a good many of Nick’s videos and thankfully avoided wasting money due to his scrutiny. There have been knives that I was “so close” to buying, but then saw his “ugly” factor and realized I should go with something else. While he does have some favorite brands, he does treat them fairly objectively.
Anyone here buy a knife based on a Nick Shabazz review?
LTKs Honey Badgers turned out pretty dark, but he started with tan scales. Hopefully, the white scales I ordered will work out less dark.
Very cool, thank you for finding the FRN dying videos. My take away from it; do not put too much dye in the pot, and, I would check the FRN scales every fifteen seconds to make sure I get the shade of color I have in mind. Remember that if the scales turn out darker than you wanted, you are stuck with them, there is no going back. So, take the extra step of checking the scales regularly to get your intended color.
Monitor, monitor, monitor! Don’t drop them in the pot, leave them there and hope for the best.
The white handles appear to take dye very well. As good as the tan FRN handles but with truer color.

I haven’t bought a knife because he told me so but I like to watch his videos.
He especially likes Oosa made (USAmade) knives, the cheapest crap from China for MallNinjas 
Even his teaser video where his “neighbor” is turning on loud music is a must see.
