[Closed] Sofirn C01S with Nichia E21A 98CRI R9050/9080

Update:

The poll is online: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/72885

OP is updated, too.

Yes!!! I need this in my life! I would buy all three tints! I would prefer a floody optic or mule. Like the C01.

Interested!! 4500k is my favourit!

I don’t want or need R9050, the 219C is R9050 that is quite nice but I’ve never thought it was really worth it, so if I would pick a tint as warm as possible with excellent CRI it would be an optisolis or E21A 2700K R9080. For a second one, anythink between 3500K to 6500K as long as it is a R9080 LED.
But anyway, it’s just my personnal preferences.

Here is my attempt a capturing a C01R moonlight beam on a white wall. There is a distinct irregular spot in the center. It may be hard to see on your computer or cell phone. I believe in the C01R thread someone was asking about a defect in the TIR. I think it is just a characteristic of the TIR optic used. I don’t mind too much for the C01R considering the cost and because you typically can’t see it in normal use. However if the same TIR is used for white light I am guessing some of the CRI babies around here will complain about it. Worth considering an upgrade for the E21a model?

Interested in one of each (2000K, 3500K and 4500K) would also prefer 10440 support and sub lumen mode.

Would be great if will include spare lens on the packet of C01S/R ,also with different angle beam

Interested, especially with R9080. Firefly-moonlight-medium-high would be sweet.

Very interested!
Would buy 3-4 or more.

Very interested - have SST-20 on the way, but I’d easily buy another in 4500k (4000-4500k is my sweet spot). A really low firefly/moonlight mode would be nice but is we’re going with a true “budget” theme then it should be centered around the emitter without changing too much else up (L to H is a must).

Put me down for 1x 4500k!

Interested. 3500K + 4500K with floody optic.

Jürgen is right, 2000K is clearly missing!

Edit: SST-20, 2700K; SST-20, 3500K; 219C, 4000K; 219B, 4500K

Fantastic input/feedback, guys!

Your suggestions are in line with the observations of Djozz and Unheard posted on the C01R thread. A microlensed or frosted lens will probably be mandatory for the Nichia E21A emitter to eradicate the tintshift. I will talk to Barry about the proper characteristics and point Sofirn to Clemence's thread to find a suitable optic. If all works out this optic may also become available as a spare part or accessory for using with C01R or C01S with SST-20. Let's keep our fingers crossed. :-)
