Favorite movies of all time ?

I saw Hamilton (2020).

This Broadway play was recently televised on Disney+.

This play is amazingly good.

As expected, the acting and music are top shelf.

The play is two hours and forty minutes long, and it's packed with tons of dialogue and singing.

In other words, there is a lot of content, and it's done very well.

This is one of the best musicals I have ever seen, and I like musicals.

The play is also very witty.

My advice:

Catch this play if you can.

I saw The Hunt (2020).

I really like this movie.

It's part action and part horror.

The movie has a lot of politically charged language in it, but the film doesn't take itself seriously, politically speaking that is.

The action sequences are done very well.

The actress Betty Gilpin does an excellent job as an action star.

The acting is actually not too bad, and the music is good.

Usually the acting in action/horror movies isn't that great, but this movie is kinda special.

I think the movie would have a better score on IMDb if it didn't have the politically charged language.

Just don't take the movie too seriously, and you'll probably enjoy it.

I saw Palm Springs (2020).

This movie is amazing.

First of all, I have some background to establish.

The movie was not actually filmed in Palm Springs, but that doesn't bother me.

Also, I live pretty close to Palm Springs, so I'm extra glad that I enjoyed the movie.

This movie involves a time loop like Groundhog Day, but the two movies are not very similar in other respects.

The acting in Palm Springs is excellent, and the music is good.

Groundhog Day is a better movie, but Palm Springs is very entertaining and has heart.

There's a guy on the local NBC affiliate that reviews movies for a living, and he recently called Palm Springs the best movie of 2020 so far.

I haven't seen nearly as many movies as that critic, but I really liked the film.

my top three:

1. 2001.
2. original King Kong.
3. Blazing Saddles.

Roadie,
Not a great movie, but who can resist Alice Cooper, Meatloaf, and Art Carney.
Everything works if you let it…

Tremors

Introducing the Grabboids

All the Best,
Jeff

Again, wrong thread.

Nope, you're dead wrong.

All of my reviews of movies in this thread are about my favorite movies of all time.

This is the fourth time I have explained this in this thread.

I guess the first three times didn't stick.

EDIT:

In fact, I have already explained this to you once (before today) in this thread.

When is this information going to finally stick?

Funny you mentioned Tremors. They are definitely among my favorites.
I watched all 6 of them many times and don’t get tired.
They are great for entertainment. Not sure why they did not score higher.

I saw Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019).

This movie is very good.

The acting is excellent, as is the music.

It's a worthy entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I'm glad Marvel seems to be done with doing Spider-Man reboots every few years.

That was getting old.

If you like the MCU, which I love, you'll like this movie.

(I think I've seen every movie in the MCU except Captain Marvel.)

This movie is pretty action packed, and is a visual feast.

I saw Boogie Nights (1997).

This movie is an epic drama.

The acting and music are both superb.

Although the film is about the "adult entertainment" industry, it is surprisingly not that sexy.

I mean, there is nudity, but most of it just isn't that sexy.

It is an excellent drama, however.

Some parts of the movie are pretty dark, and the movie is obviously not appropriate for kids.

The movie starts out a little slow, but it is very entertaining even though it is a long movie.

(I generally prefer movies that are about 90 minutes long.)

Overall, I loved this movie.

One of the few movies in which Burt Reynolds’ performance received positive reviews from professional critics.

I saw Captain Marvel (2019).

I had been avoiding this movie because I thought it wouldn't be that good.

Boy was I wrong.

It has one of the lowest IMDb scores for a movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but I loved this film.

The acting is great, and the music superb.

There are a few alternative rock songs from the 1990s in the movie that are excellent.

As expected, there is plenty of action too.

I didn't really get into the movie until maybe half an hour into it, but then I really enjoyed it.

I think I didn't like the beginning too much because I was pretty sure I wouldn't like the movie.

But even if the beginning isn't perfect, this is one of my favorite movies.

I think just about every movie in the MCU fits into that category, and now I think I've seen them all.

EDIT:

I just looked it up--I have seen every movie in the MCU, and the only two that I didn't love were The Incredible Hulk (2008) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).

So that's 21 that I love, and 2 that I didn't.

That's impressive!

I saw Warrior (2011).

I know, I know, I keep on seeing movies that I really like.

I've been lucky lately and haven't seen that many stinkers.

This movie is mostly drama, and part action.

I didn't really like most of the drama parts, and I really enjoyed most of the action sequences.

The drama sort of sets up the action that happens in the latter half of the movie.

It's a slow burn type of movie.

The acting is pretty good, and the music is great.

By the end of the movie, I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it to anyone that might be interested in it.

But you have to watch the whole movie to enjoy it because the last third or so is the best part.

It's kinda a long movie, but by the end, I was really glad I watched it.

Ah, so he doesn’t come out to play-ay?

Tremors was a fun movie. The sequel fell a bit short. And the one after that was total trash.

Oh, there's more than three movies in that series.

I haven't seen them all, but I kinda like the ones I have seen.

Re: Tremors

I loved the first one and the second one was pretty good.
The third one was fine but nothing special.
The fourth one was good again, it’s a prequel with one of the original characters playing his own grandfather.

After that all the rest were made for TV with generic cgi effects. Nothing special but still fun if you like the others. Just variations on location, worms in Africa, worms in the Arctic etc.

If Tremors was more popular,
Then the line
Broke into the wrong God Damn Rec room, didn’t you, you bastard.
Would rank up there with:
Are you feelin lucky today? Well are you punk?

Yep, if it’s on TV I’ll watch at least until that scene.

Boogie Nights is loosely based on John Holmes. Look up the Wonderland Murders for the depressing story of his real life.
