Nextool 50.2 died after one use, how do I open this thing?

I have Nextool 50.2 that died on its first camping trip. I actually only used it in the house twice and charged it to take it camping with my friends, but it started showing one purple bar and would not charge … the board I know is dead. I contacted Bangoods where I bought the light and had to go trough hurdles to get back $7.80 as refund towards another light.
I decided to put together a board but not sure which firmware to try as yet til I can get to the motherboard which seems next to impossible. Can anyone help with disassembly?

I got the front bezel and lens off and that is it. I have no idea how they put this thing together.

PS. I decided to get an Astrolux, always been 100% reliable to me, I got the EC03.

I have the Nextool as well , never had a problem. I would not say its the best but its worth the $22 I paid. I never use built in chargers. They are not accurate and take too long to charge.

I have one of these and it is my most used light by my wife - she does not like my other lights, with Anduril for example. She uses it even as a bedside lamp, even though it has an ugly 6500k tint for that.

So I am pretty happy with it, I think you were just unlucky with yours :frowning:
I don’t know how to disassembly it, sorry for that :frowning:

Wonder what keeps the charging area from unscrewing all the way?

Looking at this video at 1:22,

It looks like there may be a joint between the last of the finned part and the rest of the top cylinder.

Peek closely at the top groove. Is that a joint I see in there?

Good Luck,

Jeff

Thank you Jeff.
I sent it on the light and hacked it up.
I tried gently using 500F of hot air around the joint rim(half way down the head) and a couple of belt straps, nothing! Then I put it between a mallet and a countertop vise, still no game. I decided screw it, its dead anyhow, and just twist off the head, that worked. Then if they did not try hard enough to keep us out, they pressed in the alu. pill under the xh50 and glued the motherboard to the walls. I then drilled from the threads into the alu. pill then used a dremel disc to cut a slit into the sides so I could pry out the pill … definitely not modders friendly. It now sits at the edge of my desk right above my junk box, any day now a stiff wind …

It seems like a disposable LED light IMO. I would trust my life to a light like this, I would more use Astrolux, BLF/Lumintop, Haikelite or Convoy brands to take on a long trip, back packing, or camping. Reliability of this light and is on par with my Imalent lights. Fun to play with indoors but I would not trust a life to it.

Do you use the USB A to USB C cable for charging?
In mine the USB C to USB C cable does not charge.

Does it work if you install a fully charged battery?

Those built in chargers are selling gimicks, you need a real desktop charger.

Tried it all, including swapping batteries with a known good one. The stock battery is fine.
The board they built is an integrated boost board, single chip for UI, boost and charging. I am sure it is the main chip that went bad, but I have no idea where to get a chip like this one as it has about 16 legs and looks kinda bespoke.
Not sure why these things come with a warranty.
Oh well, moving on to better things.

How did u removed the front bazel amd the lens??
