Rosy!(ish)/Neutral - Manker E02 II (Possibly FA3?)

If you say it matches the rosiness of the 4500k E21A in the D4v2, then it is very rosy! Even the rosiest SST-20 FA3 tint I’ve ever seen which is in the FF E07, it is nowhere near as rosy as Hank’s batch of the 4500k E21A. Thanks for sharing. I’ll be ordering one when the MC13 and E14 III Muscle combo gb.

To be fair, my D4v2 is only what I would call very slightly rosy, closer to neutral. In fact I wouldn’t describe my E21as as rosy until almost turbo, unfortunately. I think I probably got one of the less rosy ones with mine. Still a great tint, going from neutral to rosy and never green, but not even close to the 219B in my Pineapple Mini, nor even as rosy on the lower levels as my Manker E21 which has a warmer 219B (I think it’s SW40). But even putting the E02 and the E21 next to each other in a direct comparison, it doesn’t make it look green, it just looks like… rosy and neutral.

I’m just sitting here now comparing tints over and over again just to see where it falls in relative Rosy-ness… And the medium level of this E02 II is rosier than my D4v2 on it’s lower levels.

Rosy Level Highest to lowest…

Pineapple Mini > E21 > D4v2 Turbo > D4v2 ~300 lumens = E02 II High > E02 II Low Modes > D4v2 Low/Medium (~75lumens)

I don’t think it ever gets down to “green” on that list. Again, this is all my subjective impressions and the Pineapple Mini (sw45k) is WAY rosier, to the level of being purple, but still… I was not expecting it to be as good as it is.

Additional update, been playing with it a bit more, and I added a lee 804 minus green filter just to see what it looks like, and even at the 5 lumens level it’s now about half as rosy as the Pineapple mini 219b, and definitely more rosy than all the others.

Also doing a runtime test and so far it appears Manker’s listed numbers are BEFORE step-down, as I just just over 30 minutes at the 220 lumen high level (it does step down from 420 to 220 after 3 minutes, even though forgot to put that in the specs, just like it does from 220 to 90 on AAA) with a not quite fully charged 350mAh EBL 10440. It then dropped down to the 5 lumen “moonlight” mode and has been running at that level for about 50 minutes and hasn’t dimmed. It is still possible to ramp up to the highest “moonlight” mode of 30 lumens as well, so it appears to just step-down to your memorized moonlight setting. After this run I will test if that’s the case. Overall I’m very impressed with this light, I just wish the 10440 could still do at least a .5 lumen moonlight instead of moonlight just becoming a set of low modes from 5-30 lumens though.

Update: It went about an hour, then it started to dim, so clearly fell out of regulation. I tried to ramp it up to see what would happen and it just cut off. I was able to get about 30 seconds on the 30 lumen low and then it cut off. So it appears to just, drop to your moonlight until it cuts off, but it doesn’t step down from whatever your moonlight setting is, it just stays there until it cuts off.

I will keep this thread updated as I test more

hope you will like E02II.

Manker, hope you can make an effort to get more rosy colored tint bins like the Cree 5A, 5D tints for the warm white or neutral white options. For example, Hank’s emitters are generally rosy tint bins and so are Armyteks.

Lukehale, if possible can you post some beamshot pics of the SST-20 in comparison to your other lights? I’ve generally gotten very green tints in my SST-20s from Convoy and Sofirn, and my first one with a nice tint was my recently obtained D4v2. I’m generally wary of ordering SST-20s lights, unless I can verify their tint bin first.

I would consider my Nichia 219B SW45k light as very rosy and though I like the tint on my D4v2 I wouldn’t classify it as rosy. I’m also on the groupbuy for the MC13 and E14 III muscle combo, and would be interested in the SST-20 variant if it has a nice tint.

Ordered!

available on amazon.com now

Ordered one, be here Sunday.
Thx

The tint does look good in this video

I ordered one from Amazon and will test it with a spectrometer. :sunglasses:

It’s IS good (for SST-20)

NiMH low / turbo

Li-ion low / turbo

Wow!

Just received it and it is smaller than the original E02 in every aspect.
Magnet pull is not as strong, may very well be same magnet but the old one has the magnet mounted externally which gives it an advantage.
Regardless, strong enough to hold upside down/side.etc.

The low at lowest level when using AAA eneloop is so low you have to get it near your eye in daylight to see if it is on.
Probably want to physically lock out when if stored in a room that doesn’t get used when pitch black or never get real dark as it could be easily left on that Cats Eye mode and create a slow drain issue.

Changes mode from med to high by holding button and it switches rather fast, if you continue to hold it will oscillate up and down.
Quick click for on-off, hold for Moon, double click for Turbo.
No weird engineer mode, beacon, etc.

Tint is very nice as noted by the OP.
Hold it’s own against my original E02 with the Nichia.
Will really be able to test this evening in dark bedroom.

Clip has only one grove for mounting.
New version rides much deeper in pocket, also new is the metal button switch so you will not have to worry about the rubber wearing away.

All in all, call this one a Keeper and a Winner.
Great job Manker!

And yes I paid full price for this, so no artificial fanboy review here.
Later,
Keith

Its a neat light.

A low mode would be nice (firefly to mid is a big jump)

There is no delay for presses so going to turbo blinks the light off very briefly (annoying)

Everything else is great

Sorry for the lack of update/responses from me so far, but I’m glad that my eyeball tint estimation is at least pretty good! I’m pretty excited about this light, I ordered another from Amazon (first was direct from Manker), and I might get more.

In the first version of the E02, more than 20 brightness levels could be adjusted in low mode. Can I adjust the low mode in the second version of the flashlight ?

How reliable is the tint of Manker lights? From the clearance I got two E02 with 219C LEDs. They are very different.

Is the tail magnet removable?

Yes

I have one coming on Wednesday from Amazon. Had to order the headband separately from Manker (doesn’t seem like my current headbands would fit this little guy).

Looks like a wonderful light. I’m really looking forward to it. Will probably stash it and the headband in my daily carry backpack.

Thanks for the write-up!

Updated OP with additional AAA runtime test, in progress.
