4 Budget ( Covid 19 ) Knives put to the rope .

4 Knives purchased out of pure Boredom !
I am changing my testing to something anyone can replicate , within reason ( Those variables )

TEST = Cutting rope . 10mm Sisal Rope Often referred to as Twisted Sisal

I cut the rope as long as the knife cuts the paper .
Once the knife no longer cuts the paper I stop and call it .
One simply has to be careful not to allow the knife to tear the paper , it must cut the paper .

:+1: I always appreciate real world tests like this on products that my interest me. Thank you

Great video, where can I get the one from Tasmania?

I havent seen any more …

  • It was garbage …
I spent a few hours fitting the blade to the handle so it would work properly ( Good time waster I guess ) .

It really is a junk knife ( What I got ) … But it’s a play thing !

There are other knives from the same seller , around 10 to 12 Oz Bananas .

Reminds me of the Burrfection /Ricky cut tests on youtube ..he had the same outcome you had ...one very painful hand . Nice to see you posting on the forum again .

I always appreciate anyone putting effort into any review. So much work and edit.

Probably to guard against boredom !
In fact I have purchased a lot of STUFF to guard against boredom .
Unfortunately DAG wont let us fly RC . must be a Covid threat ?

2 more knives came today ( Yay )

And yes , knife No2 in the test was brutal on my hand . Still hurts ! Blade steel is probably ok for a budget knife , but the pain using it !
Next review will be a guided knife sharpener .

great test! thanks.

All that RC …

For anyone who enjoys watching Australians cut twisted sisal rope I highly recommend Cedric & Ada Gear and Outdoors. (I see you’re already a subscriber old4570)

I like his test with the RAT 1 AUS8 and D2 knifes. The D2 was very impressive. Great steel if you take care of it properly.

Cedric & Ada Gear and Outdoors , Yes …
It’s what I want to see in knife reviews … Some one actually using the knife , not just slicing paper and declaring how great it is .

That is why I will re-test all my Chinese knives using a test that can be replicated .

Especially my D2 (?) knives , after I have used a guided knife sharpener on them .

I got both my guided knife sharpener kits today , so I am rather happy about that . Even got to try one out a little , I am impressed by how effective they are .

Thank you for sharing. To add my .02/cents, the best blade I’ve found for cutting rope is on Kommens “Full Throttle” CRKT knives. Unfortunately, outside of it’s great rope cutting abilities, it’s not all that good of a knife IMO. The pretty gold and deep black you see in the picture wears off fast and the knife is heavy but smallish.
