MF01 Mini / MT07- Mod/Upgrade - Copper Heatsink Cover Plate

I could get a couple. Thanks,

Of course! PM sent.

@YogibearAl - you’re on the list! I put you down for 2 pcs. If you want more/less, just let me know.

@patmurris - thanks for volunteering to handle the EU parts!

Thanks GChart. The more I use it the more I like it. So modding and gifting this Christmas… Should be just in time for that. Gotta keep the copper to myself

@GCHART - could you confirm I am in for one or no? I am OK with it either way, as i do not need one now per se but may need one in future. I just wanted to check. Thank you.

Just to show you, and actually confirm with you guys if this the cu plate. This is how my recent MF01mini came to me from astrolux (Banggood).

:+1:

Is it brass or copper? Wonder if they used the thermal pads or thermal paste under the plate?

Please let us know if works as well as Manoflights

@Artiet59 - no worries. I can remove you from the list for now. I ended up picking up a couple extras, so I’ll likely have one if you need it later on. Just let me know if you want back in.

Re: brass / copper. Lexel said they were using brass. But, as most of us are aware, “copper” and “brass” easily get crossed in translation.

Gchart - thank you. I did not want to jam up this group from moving forward by backing out, so if you find you’re not moving them just post to this group down the road and ill pick one up. But thank you for the out for now.

Brass would make sense in the one i pictured, as stated above it looks identical to the center pin. I don’t remember where i read it recently (maybe in this post) that the hierarchy of metals by thermal dissipation are Cu (100), Al (approx. 70?), Brass (approx. 25), and Ti (approx 5?). I put question marks because that it was i remember the numebrs to be but havent verified. Anyway, reason i mention it is that i guess the zinc in brass really degrades its thermal ability. Kind’ve a bummer for the new d4v2 i bought, but then again it gets as hot as fast as my fw3C anyway, but i recognize that the burning hand test is not too scientific

Got mine today, I ordered one with the copper head and it has the plate fitted as well. You can clearly see it has a different tint compared to the copper head.

Yeah, brass should be better than the plastic one for sure. But not quite as good as copper. What I ended up ordering was the Copper 101 alloy which is considered “pure, oxygen free” something like 99.99% purity. Ought to be good enough

Nice! yea brass definitely better then plastic! and copper seems to be King!

It is interesting however that they did not have a insulating sticker to prevent a possible short?

That's why I was wondering what's under the plate also.

HELP - I have a question, that ay have been answered in this post or somewhere else -

Does this plate fit in the FT03? I was looking into my ft03 recently and thought they look similar?

If it does fit in the FT03, then : Gchart, i will take one definitely.

Thanks.

I don’t have an FT03 to measure / check. Looking at images online and I’m leaning toward “no”. Hopefully someone else can chime in definitively.

The FT03 is a completely different design layout wise.

+1

This heat sink plate is designed to address a very specific driver design shortcoming and configuration. Unless the FT03 uses the exact same driver it is very unlikely to fit and work as expected.

Ok, thank you guys. It just looked similar. I appreciate the help
