I know its not your picture but how does one objectively tell the difference between the two? Doesn’t help that the left side is slightly out of focus.
The opening for the emitter in the reflector is much bigger on the new ones, they now use the same reflector as the FW1A Pro (XHP50.2) to cut costs. I’m pretty sure the old reflector throws further and works better with smaller emitters which is why I want to find one.
Thanks for the explanation. I did a paint masterpiece to illustrate what I think I understand as the issue.
I picked up an FW1A SST20 recently and have been enjoying it even though it appears to be the FW1A PRO reflector. I don’t have the old one to compare to to really have anything to complain about.
Would be great if we could buy aftermarket reflectors.
On a side note I’m considering adding some 1/8 minus green to mine if I can figure out how to attach it reasonably. Just holding the film over the lens produces an appealing shift.
I’m also wondering how a dome slice would affect it, presumably make it a bit warmer and throw-ier. As said above though, I’m enjoying it as it is for the time being.

Edit : I cant figure it out. any Fw box I have is a 3a box. No Fw1a anything . cant remember where I picked it up either, can you tell from the pic if its a 1A or 1A pro?
