Any small solar panels you recomend?

Looking for a small light and reliable solar panel just for charging flashlights with built in charging. Something along the idea of the Renogy E.Flex panel here.

Shouldn’t need to be super powerful. I have not really seen any reviews that are detailed for small panels.

Thanks.

I just bought a Big Blue 28w, 4 panel, 3 port, folding panel and gave my GF my older Sunkingdom 14w folder.

Chris

You beat me to it. I have the same charger.

Big Blue 28W 3 port on amazon

I have a Anaker version of the Big Blue panel. It works well enough, but I am looking for something smaller/lighter. 3/4 –1A output should be fine for charging a single light I would think. I have one of the E-flex panels, it does ok, but I don’t know how long it will last.

I was hoping some of you may have a different small one similar that you had good luck with.

Thanks for te help everybody.

My daughter gave me a GoalZero panel and power bank for Christmas two years ago for backpacking adventures. It is overpriced, but works well. If a cloud momentarily blocks the sun, it will automatically resume charging when the sun re-emerges. Some cheaper panels will have to be manually restarted. It has been great for backpacking and for recharging the phone during power outages. You can probably get something for less money if you do some research.

Take a look at the 20w, or 30w foldable, from PowerFilm Solar. PowerFilm Solar
Or waterproof rollable panels here: PowerFilm Rollable

I have the 120w Foldable, and a 60w Rollable. I use them for camping and boating/rafting. But I still have/use an old Goal Zero 7w.

Nice thing about PowerFilm panels, is that if one cell is damaged, it effects that cell’s output, only. There is a utoob video, showing a guy shooting a 60w panel, and it hardly effected the output, with a hole through it. And the panels/cells are very flexible, not rigid.
They are pricey, though.
US military have them built into their tent roofs.

Hmm. That Powerfilm light saver is almost perfect for what I am looking for. But ouch $$$.

I have several solar charges, up to a 100w hard panel suitcase one that is awesome. Problem is, they are all a bit heavy for backpacking.

Is 20w enough for average use like charging batteries and cellphones? Or should go for 40w?

Here is one for $20 plus 6% off.

I was overwhelmed by the number of products out there and don't know the first thing about them, so I went with a probably overpriced, but safe, choice: the Bioenno 28 watt folding panel. On a sunny day, it will keep the 9ah 12V LiFePO4 battery charged that runs my Xeigu portable ham radio. It has a USB port that can be used directly. I use an additional solar charge controller for the 12V battery.

I just bought a Goal Zero Yeti 200X lithium, with a Goal Zero Nomad 20W foldable panel …. advantage is that these two can be connected with a special solar cable that’s supplied with the Nomad …

The Nomad 20 also has another USB connection but for this specific “cooperation” these two have been “matched”.

As it’s Black Friday Sale …… I got € 100,- (20 %) discount along with an Fenix E28R for free ……. :+1: (I guess it’s still worth something … being a return customer ….)

I want to compare the Yeti/Nomad 20W cooperation with the Xtorm Brick/WakWaka 10W powerlink combination which I also have.

As it’s charging from the mains now and the sun is gone I cannot comment on anything yet but if interest exists I might be able to provide some numbers

I don;t know the Renogy 10W but Rockpal is a decent budget brand,

I think 60W should be good and it is not so powerful, because the efficiency is pretty low. I heard sometimes tthey discount their lower end 100W model to below 70 with double coupon if you want to wait,
