Sipik CK93 --> consensus, never mind, skip this one

just noticed at Manafont:

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/sipik-ck93-q5-3mode-floodtothrow-led-flashlight-black-aa14500-p-10049

slightly longer and wider and cheaper than the SK68 it appears.

I think they're on to us.

ITS HERE! SIPIK SK98 - A 18650 based Sipik SK68 with an XML! There’s an earlier mention somewhere, can’t find it right now. The Manafont package looks the best so far…

No, you're thinking of the SK98, that's the new 18650 light you linked to.

I'm asking about the Sipik CK93, 1AA/14500, comparing it to their other AA-size zoomers.

They're busy over at Sipik: http://www.manafont.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=SIPIK+&log=&x=0&y=0

Hmm. . . I like the looks of that Sipik CK93! Nicer looking than the SK68! So will this one be the source of the next hot Ebay clones? Hopefully!

Oops, my bad. That's what comes of not checking someone's link properly
Looks very like the Citipower G7, be interesting to see how quality compares.

I have a light that looks just like the Sipik CK93. Got it on Ebay several months ago. My impressions:

1. twist ring to focus between flood and spot. Flood is about average for a zoomie. It's wide enough to be usable, but definitely not as wide as some of the nicer zoomies such as the EDI-T T11.

2. Runs fine on AA or 14500.

3. Average brightness. Doesn't throw as well as a Sipik 68.

4. Feels good in the hand.

5. Huge. For a single AA light this is much bigger than a Sipik 58 or 68. It feels as big as my Zebralight SC600 (though it's lighter than the SC600). I'm not sure why anyone would want to carry a light that's so much bigger than it needs to be.

6. I haven't opened up the head, but have read in other threads about people who have. the pill slides up and down inside the head when the ring is turned. This has a number of disadvantages: (a) forget modding this thing to a more powerful emitter/driver - it's pretty much impossible to get effective heatsinking in there, and (b) if the zoom mechanism is cycled too much it could stress the little wires connecting the pill to the driver, possibly causing them to break and the light to stop working.

It's an interesting design, but I'd have to give this design a pass. There are better zoomies out there.

Exactly my thoughts firelight2. Moving pills instead of lense is simply bad design, adding unnecessary cyclic stress and minimize heat transfer.
