Honestly I can't stand the iPad for anything but viewing web pages and photos. I received it as an xmas gift and use it every day for about 2 hours at night to read in bed. I much prefer my laptop but the iPad is so easy to boot, no cords etc, and very light.
I really hate it compared to my laptop but apparently laziness wins out over functionability :)
How does using an Apple product turn the user into a sheep?
Is the driver of a Toyota a sheep? After all it is the biggest selling car in the world.
The system the user chooses to use is irrelevant, it could be Windows, Android or MS DOS.
Surely using an Ipad makes the user anything but a sheep, there are by far more Windows users throughout the world that IOS.
I think it's time you yourself stopped being a sheep by following the Apple haters and to have an educated opinion of your own instead of regurgitating the BS you've read else where on the net.
The sheep argument just doesn't make too much sense.
I really like the Dolphin browser on my Android 4.0 tablet... much better than Firefox for android (which I use for WIN7) and the integrated Google one. I believe it's free and available for Ipad users also? Have you tried switching the browser from tablet mode to normal desktop mode? (many browsers allow that..in Dolphin it is called )
As far as Apple goes .... they make great products that work out of the box... but I don't like their restrictive policies very much. BLF is not the time or the place for flame wars... they are prone to get out of hand... you now how people are that defend their "religion". ;-)
Have you ever tried using an Apple product? Like you, I was very anti-Apple until about a year ago when I was given an iPhone to use for work. The amazing thing was that I came to realize that I was using my iPhone to surf the web more than my laptop because of the boot up times despite the tiny screen. When it came time to replace my trusty old laptop I started looking at tablets, like the Androids and the iPads and the iPad just seemed like a smoother handling device.
I dunno what laptop you have but my Samsung ultrabook starts up in 5 seconds (even less - 1 to 2 seconds - if I wouldn’t have to type password every time)
My wife and I love our iPad, but it's for surfing or simple posting. Anything complicated and I'll use the iMac at home or the PC at work. I use my iPhone all the time for reading, but it is cumbersome to post with because of the small size and lack of a mouse (and my fat fingers). It's nice having a choice and they all have their strengths and weaknesses.
I run bootcamp on the iMac with XP / Office 2003 on the other side. Best of both worlds. There are many software packages that either haven't been written for Apple (Mapping software) or where the Apple version is inadequate (Excel). I do some pretty sophisticated Maps for cycling using Microsoft Streets & Trips and Delorme; I haven't looked in a while, but when I did could not find anything remotely like them that would run in IOS.
My laptop also recovers from standby about the same time as my WP7 phone (neither Android nor iOS, lookatdat!) and its like 5 years old.
I dislike Apple, too. Company policy and most of the users are indeed sheep. "Why did you buy it?" - "Because its Apple!!!!!!111111111111". Not even starting to talk about how overpriced the products are and how incredible ridiculous the copyright claims are..
Posting works fine on WP7 btw. But I dont like posting from any smartphone/tab.. smartphones are just too small and tablets are too slow for proper typing (yes, also the "all hail to the 3rd. gen ipad")
