Test / Review: Keeppower 18650 3100mAh (Black)

Keeppower 18650 3100mAh (Black)

Official specifications:

  • 18650 3100mAh Protected Rechargeable Battery
  • Min Capacity: 2900mAh
  • Typical Capacity: 3100mAh
  • Normal Voltage: 3.6V
  • Quality Lithium Ion rechargeable cell
  • In Built Safety Circuitry
  • Maximum capacity and reliability
  • High Discharge Rate (Max 2C)
  • Protection Circuit (Against overcharge, over discharge, over current and short-circuit.)
  • 4.2 volts max voltage and 3.6-3.7 volts nominal voltage

The cell used can be discharged down to 2.5 volt, in my test I only discharges to 2.8 volt, i.e. I do not measure the full capacity. But then, not all lights will be able to use the full capacity.

Each chart has curves for two batteries, but these batteries are nearly identical in performance and the curves are on top of each other.

Conclusion

This battery uses a good cell, this secures many things:

  • The batteries does match in capacity, i.e. they can be used in series.
  • The battery is very safe.
  • The battery has the specified capacity.

All in all a very good battery.

Notes and links

Keeppower is a OEM manufacturer, i.e. many of the batteries they produce is sold with other names on them.

The batteries was supplied by Keeppower for review.

Good review, as usual. I've never heard of Keeppower, have these batteries been released yet?

The batteries are on there website and I hope the reason the asked me to test them is because they want to sell them and probably not only as OEM.

I had a quick look here:

but didn't find a price or place to buy. As you say, I guess we can expect to see them following your review.

Thanks, HKJ. I hope we see them for sale soon. We need more oem options - too many mystery wrapped cells out there.

Yeah, if I remember correctly the eX-cell 3100s were OEM from Keeppower, as I think are the CK 3100s and all the Redilasts. They claim to be better quality assembly and components than AW's cells but that is of course open for discussion.

They have access to a LOT of good cells and can pick and choose the best performers, I'm looking forward to their 14500s for sure.

Are Intl-Outdoors 3100mAh cells made by Keeppower too?

Good review. Thanks

Wow, interestingly, many of the Panasonics 18650 3100`s are in Black.. with the silvery branding..

seems like they all come from the same manufacturer/company.

Interesting.

I'm pretty sure they are.

Goingoutdoors, the seller on eBay who stocks these, has just increased his prices - from $22 to $25 per pair. Still good deal & he’ll certainly take a lower offer. He also has Keeppower 2800mAh and 3000mAh (18650).

Thanks again HKJ!

I offered $20 and it was accepted, very good deal for 2 Panny 3100mAh batteries.

That sounds good. But how far away are 3400 quality batteries?

For some reason the fella who sells them on eBay will not ship to the uk anymore.

Are you sure? The Uk isn’t in his list of exclusions here.

He must of changed his mind as GB has been in that list for the last two weeks.
