It's funny, because people with apple products can't get malware. It proves to be their downfall because they believe they can go wherever they want without protection. I myself haven't gotten any kind of malware since I was 8, and I'm 15 now. There is a much bigger market for malware for windows computers though, that's why there tends to be less malware for macs. My dad gets a trojan every year because he just opens his email attachments from people he doesn't know blindly, then he wonders why one of his credit cards had a $6200 credit transfer that he didn't do...
Pretty typical. I've placed a total of 9 orders from DD, Manafont, Outdoor Int'l, and DX over 4 months. Average delivery time from order date has been 20 days. My DX order was actually one of the quicker ones (15 days), but the longest was from DD (31 days). Interestingly, that order from DD was for 18650's and SR STL-V2. The batteries arrived in 11 days, but the light took 31 days.
I've had some DX orders take several months. Don't despair, it will eventually show up. The wait sucks!
Yesterday i tried to reach dealextreme.com with a pc without antivirus... result: a virus hidden behind a fake antivirus that self install as soon as i reach the site. Almost an hour to remove it... Thanks DX!
Use a Mozilla-based browser like Firefox or Seamonkey. It will not hurt your Internet Exploder. Whichever browser you use, disable the Java plug-in if not don't absolutely need it. (Javascript is okay.) In Firefox, go to Tools > Add-ons and disable every "Extension" you don't need or want. I also recommend turning off password remembering.
Most people getting infections today get them through vulnerabilities inherent to Internet Explorer and the plug-ins which are enabled by default, such Active-X and Java (if you have it installed). Ads on legitimate sites usually don't come from the site itself, and the ads are often not properly vetted. There are also impostor web pages to lure people doing web searches.
If you're visiting any site with an ad, or doing any web searches, you are at risk using IE. This will not change, there won't be a "patch". IE needs to keep those features turned on so that fancy corporate web-based apps at peoples' workplaces will work.
One thing I have learned, you can't depend on a so-called "security" software to protect you. Non-technical explanation being that nothing can protect you from yourself.
I do wonder the details about this DX thing (what it was, how it got there). I must also say I hate the new "DX.com", and my last orders have taken so long to fulfill (er, not even completely fulfill--"in stock" actually "out of stock"), I'd only go back there if no reasonable alternative were available. They do have the biggest selection and often best prices and a real customer service team. And no fake "reviews" [DinoDirect].
