I don't own a P60, looking to get a Solarforce to remedy that.

So, like the title says, looking to get a Solarforce host with the Manafont Ultrafire or IO Copper U2 drop-in. I am not sure what all the different models are, but from looking at it the L2P looks like what I want. Even though I pretty much never use a flashlight tailstanding I do prefer recessed clickies so that’s why the L2P catches my eye but again, if someone can explain the options and different models I may go a different route.

Also, which drop in, Manafont or I-O?

Whoa...we gotta get you with the program, lol,If I were to reccommend,it would be a l2t host with a l2 s9 tailcap for tail standing purposes. The drop in is a tough call,I have both and prefer the i.o. one for the fact that I hate bad PWM and the manafont drop in on low is horrible. The manafont drop in is a great value and the brightest one I have and the i.o. drop in is 3 amp xml u2 and is pure white light. Both heat up a host very quickly, but in the p60 format it's not a surprise. If you want solarforce advice, foy is the solarforce guru here but I thought I'd throw a few of my likes at you.

If you prefer the L2P you have you make sure you order the one that says tailstands and reverse clicky in the description if you want those 2 options. I like the looks of the L2P better than my L2T also the L2M is a really good deal also if you want more battery options.

Black tailstanding reverse clicky here

If you are sensitive to PWN or planning on using powerful batteries I would stay away from the manafont drop in. It will pull up to 5 amps with good batteries and has horrible PWN in the 2 lower modes.

I can’t comment on the IO drop in I don’t own one, but I have heard good things.

Exactly the one I was looking at. How much is a E1320 3+ amp U2 1A XM-L drop-in?

$28 plus shipping usually $33 in the US and a little more outside.

I could order a normal L2 host and add this http://www.lighthound.com/Solar-Force-L2-Stainless-Bezel-Ring_p_3811.html

and this http://www.lighthound.com/Solar-Force-L2-Tailcap-with-Forward-Click-Switch-ver-L2-S11_p_3962.html to trick it out, right?

Yeah that’ll definitely work. You should be aware though that tall-crown strike bezels block OTF lumens on these lights. Its about a 10 Lumen reduction on an XRE module. It will be slightly more though for the large die, floody drop ins. The height of the bezel obstructs side-most emitted lumens, and creates a narrower field. It doesn’t affect the hot spot intensity though.

Ah, and flood is what I want. Would this slightly less crenelated bezel be better? http://www.lighthound.com/Solarforce-Stainless-Steel-Slight-Crenelated-Bezel-Ring-for-Solarforce-and-Lighthound-heads_p_3505.html

Could always get a smooth bezel otherwise http://www.lighthound.com/Solarforce-Stainless-Steel-Retaining-Ring-for-Solarforce-and-Lighthound-heads_p_2860.html

Solarforce L2P + E1320 P60 drop-in.

Get yourself Ace version :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha, EXACTLY what I was going to build by buying the parts, cheaper this way.

I dont like SS bezels.. but I only have one Solarforce, my blue L2P. And imo the L2P is really worth it.. the clicky just feels great.

Hmm I’m not sure about that mid-height bezel. I would imagine with a large die XML it would block a noticeable amount. I have never seen a deep bezel that didn’t obstruct at least a little.

My worst offender is the SF-M2, it blocks as much as 20 Lumens with the malkoff flood modules. Its not so much the lumen drop thats noticeable, its the narrower field of vision. An inch or two reduction here or there on a white wall isn’t really that noticeable until you get them out in the field then its like WOW… tunnel effect. So I use my lowest profile bezel with the Malkoff, so it still spills out to the far sides. The G2 and M2 are used with incan modules. The incan lamp filament is forward enough to help clear the deep bezel on these lights.

OOOOOhhh! Got this combo and love it. +1 here!!!

I personally have that strike bezel and this particular one DOES NOT obstruct the beam at all.

This is the one I have, and the next one I plan to get is the same thing in grey: http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=FB&s=7&id=418

I'm happy with the MF drop-in as it's very bright cool white and a good throw/flood combo, that and the reverse clicky are great for cycling. One of E's or the IO version will be my next drop-in. I love the 5 mode in the UF2100 that Erik built up.

i looked at a few SF links here and most of them weren't clear if the drop-in is included or not. if you already have a p60 pill and are still waiting for any host, here's one to keep you busy while you wait.

$4 for a complete xenon 501b. www.ebay.com/itm/261026706159. at time of this post he has 15 left. as fleabay deals go, this one will be gone in a blink. add a $5 xre p60 pill, and you have a $9 complete swappable backup for the solarforce. i don't know anything about this seller, just posting a good deal. :)

Listing already removed. Must have been a hot deal!

EDIT: Now back at $3.99!

Been thinking about getting this. Maybe something to look in to. IIRC, these are also current controlled.

For $29 complete, you might want to consider the Blaze at Shinigbeam
