Anyone have these Sanyo 18650 Protected 2600mAh from BIC?

I have been offered a $20 refund on my faulty STL-V2 MarsFire, which I thought was fair.

Since it ate one of my cells, and I really need some decent ones for multi cell lights ( I have a King on the way)

I though I might put some of the credit towards these Sanyo 18650 Protected 2600mAh

Does anyone have them or know how good they are? Are they suitable for the King and other multi cell lights? I am looking at buying ten or so

Thanks in advance for your advice guys

They should be, they’re good cells which hold voltage well under load. I’m not sure the IC has been tested on these clear wrapper ones though. Also, there’s no need to pay extra for the ‘Marsfire’ print on the side, even if it is only $0.30: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Sanyo-Li-ion-18650-Rechargable-3-7V-2-6Ah-2600mAh-Battery-with-Protected-RG-/350549124152?pt=US_Rechargeable_Batteries&hash=item519e5b2438

You may also want to consider the Panasonic 2900s with the same clear shrink wrap and PCM added: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Panasonic-18650-NCR18650-Rechargeable-Battery-2900mAh-with-PCB-Protective-GG-/290687605080?pt=US_Rechargeable_Batteries&hash=item43ae54d958

Thanks Red, the Panasonics sound good. The other Sanyos are a little longer so something is different about them. Not sure if it’s enough to matter though.

Oh yeah, I hadn’t noticed that. It looks like a smaller button top on the Marsfire ones. I prefer the unbranded design personally as it looks a bit more sturdy but ymmv.

I actually look for longer 18650 cells in general as I use them in Solarforce hosts more than anything else. The longer the cell is the less likely it is to skip modes if dropped/shaken.

Only tried MarsFire 14500, they were pretty average quality wise.

Ordered one of these last night

and this morning, in their shipped-notification, they mention their 5% off coupon "5%eBay2012"

(or perhaps "- 5%eBay2012", not quite clear).

Does anyone know what the difference between "protected" and "protected RG" should be?

Protected Real Good ??? Laughing

I just sent BIC this email

Thank you for you kind offer. You are a very honourable merchant, I am pleased to continue doing business with you. Rather than refund me the $20 however, I would be happy to accept a credit against some new battery cells. For example, these ones http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Sanyo-Li-ion-18650-Rechargable-3-7V-2-6Ah-2600mAh-Battery-with-Protected-RG-/350549124152?pt=US_Rechargeable_Batteries&hash=item519e5b2438

Can you please calculate a price for me for 12 of these and apply the $20 discount to the total

I look forward to hearing from you

Kind regards, Ian

But now I am thinking perhaps I should get 6 of these and 6 of the Panasonic 2900s

Is it better to have some different cells? I think the Panis are higher amp draw but may be a little longer, so may not fit all lights

I decided to stick with BIC on this because I thought it very honourable of them to offer a $20 refund on a $24 sale and let me keep the light, which can probably be repaired. All I did was inform them of the fault, and they unhesitatingly offered this. Good customer service leads to confidence in future deals.

Here you can compare batteries based on either one of the above.

The Sanyo 2600 has a flatter curve, thus it will deliver more mAh than Panasonic 2900 if you routinely recharge them before getting down to 3.3V. The Panasonic 2900 advantage is to be found in the tail of the curve.
