P60 drop in issues from Int. Outdoor Store

Here's a whitewall of my three IO drop-ins:

Left is a Solarforce L2P, center is an L2M in single 16340 configuration and right is a single cell L2X, all SMO.

The "Final Notice" bill on top of my computer I keep getting from Car and Driver after I stopped my subscription. That is my final notice or it goes up a quarter an issue or something. They make it look like your power going to be turned off. I can't afford flashlights and Car and Driver. I can barely afford a car.

Foy does not need car and driver anymore. We need Foy here.

If I need more money I tell MRSDNF to get another job that pays more. Seriously I really think that she is deaf as I never get a responce.

I received the 2.5A, 3C drop-in today (pretty amazing shipping times - took 8 days to get to UK). It’s horribly ringy. I’ve contacted Hank, so we’ll see what happens.

Good news is that it’s definitely neutral this time (I was sent a cool white one last time).

Hank now has replacement reflectors in stock that are free of the ring issue. He’s throwing one in with another order I placed tonight.

(the P60 drop-ins are subsequently up for sale again as well)

Apart from the reflector issue highlighted in this thread, which has now been fixed, these are excellent drop-ins. They are put together really nicely, and have a great feature set. Totally worth the money.

Hank is sending me a couple in my next order too, for two drop-ins I have which have horrible beams. He’s good to do business with, isn’t he? Very responsive.

Indeed he is. Prompt, friendly and helpful. Can’t recommend doing business with him enough.

Today I received my 2.5A NW dropin with OP reflector that I ordered weeks ago from Hank and I am quite pleased.

The beam is really smooth, exactly like you would expect from an OP reflector.

That grey thermal compound they supply seems to be effective, but it's kind of messy.

I was a bit surprised about the low mode, because it's really low. I guess about 2 lumes, I can look at the emitter on low without big discomfort. Can somebody confirm that?
Since the current draw on high is approximately 2.5A I don't really think there's something wrong with it.

Edit: Current draw on low is 10mA - killer runtime

Replacement reflector from Hank arrived yesterday. Problem solved

+1

When placing new orders it might be good to leave him a note requesting the “ringless” option.

I just received another drop-in from Hank and it still has the reflector problem. He’s making it right and sending 2 new reflectors right away.

I’m still happy. Great guy to deal with.

waiting for mine to come we’ll see if i get ringy beam version

I just ordered 2 3A NW dropins. Received a PM from hank recently the ringy problem is now resolved…

Correct me if I’m wrong but:
-There is an option for less-ringy reflector on these?
-You do not get it by default
-It is needed to ask for “new reflector” but it is not charged more.

Well, I ordered mine on 7/26 and still received a drop-in with super rings. The previous posts show that he was already aware of the problem and was offering a solution.

This is why I suggested that those ordering new drop-ins just leave an extra note to make sure you are not waiting an additional 2-3 weeks to get another reflector.

This helps him do what he already is trying to do, that is, serve his customers well.

Cheap Thrills, you just made me worried and email Hank again! I’ve had his assurance the problem has been resolved, so I’m sure there are no more ringy issues with these dropins. You can also ask and pay more for additional OP reflectors, I just got a couple.

I also noticed the dropins weren’t available for a while. I assume as it was due to the ringy issues. Perhaps some of the more recent orders with ringy problems were with an older batch.

Ok, thanks for info!

IMO, I’m not too sensitive regarding those rings but it is good to hear there’s an alternative now!

BTW I’m being offered and option of SMO or OP reflector. I’m leaning towards OP but am open to suggestions.

Also, does anyone want to contribute some beamshots to compare?

Get both! They’re only $3 per reflector, then you can play around with the beams when you get them

I'm usually not overly sensitive about rings either but without that little, soft clear thingy, the beam profile is beyond awful.
