BLF - I've got a problem!

Your not the only one man brted, i paid my brothers father-in-law a Magled for installing a water heater in our home.......he collects them.

I just got an email this morning telling me that my order has just shipped.

I wonder how long it will take to get here.

Well i suggest getting your rc truck ready.....sure beats waiting for the mailman.....or looking out the window.

That's fantastic. Sometimes when you order several lights like that, one of them will slow down the others. Shouldn't be more than 2 weeks before you get your lights. Usually it's just a week after Hong Kong Post says they have left the country for me.

And 2 weeks for me.....i cant wait for the 034 to get here as well....on recommendation from Don.

So does that mean my order hasn't really shipped until I get an email from Hong Kong Post?

I take it that he meant when someone orders more then one light that the shipping takes longer. Mines still in the packaging stage.

The email that I got was from DX so I thought that brted got a separate email from Hong Kong Post telling him that his order had shipped.

Sorry I meant that if you order 4 lights, it may slow down the shipment as they wait for the last supplier. But since yours shipped you should be in good shape. Once DX says it is shipped I think that just means they've sent it out. If your order is over $20 DX will give you a Hong Kong Post tracking number (which usually won't work the first day or two) and that will give you a better idea when it actually leaves Hong Kong. It can be several days between when DX says it is shipped and when HKP says it has left the country. This is the most excruciating part of ordering from DX.

Oh ok, I get it. It sucks that it will take so long because I'm used to getting things in about 2 to 3 days from US companies.

If you are used to buy from american companies, you are used to pay a lot more than you have to do at KD og DX.

Things are a little slow in coming though, so what you gonna do is to order one item at a time with a day or two in between.

The postage is free so you dont need to have it all sent in one package.

Then you can sit back and let your postman deliver a steady stream of nice and cheap quality products.

That is the price we have to pay to get cheap flashlights. Maybe I should put in an order at KD and SB so I get flashlights once a week or so. Hmmmm....Undecided

My DX lights finally came in today. Smile It's been 2 weeks and 2 days since I ordered them which isn't bad I guess but for me that was a lifetime of waiting. The first thing I noticed that I didn't like was how all 5 flashlights were sent in a paded envelope with a little bubble wrap around each one. I can see how easily items can be damaged during it's long trip to the US.

That is probably what happened to the TANK007-E07. I put a battery into it and nothing. I tried several fully charged AA batteries and still nothing. The other 4 worked just fine so I guess 4 out of 5 isn't too bad right? Frown

There really is very little in it to go wrong. I had one of mine keel over but I managed to get it back to life. Most of the troubleshooting steps in that thread don't really apply as this light is rather different. First thing to try is to unscrew the head and attach a cell to it (well hold onto a cell on top of it) with the + contacting the positive contact on the head. Run a bit of wire from the battery - to the brass and see if you get any light. If you do, then it is a switch issue. If you don't it's a head issue. The head is a pain to get apart and I'd advise RMAing it rather than ripping it apart but this thread will show you how to get it apart.

Aloha Don! I just now tried what you suggested and still nothing so it looks like the head is the problem. I'm not knowledgeable enough to take it apart so I'll take your advise and do the RMA thing. Thanks for your help Don.

When it is brand new and doesn't work - RMA is usually the best option. Problem is, from here I'll spend more than the cost of the light in postage on budget lights so I had to learn.

So if it's going to cost me more than $14.05 or even close to it then it's really doesn't make sense to send it back. I'll find out tomorrow what the return shipping will cost me. If I do decide to ship it back then it will probably take a couple of months before I see it right? Oh well.....

Thanks again Don!

Sometimes DX is very reasonable when it comes to damaged products. I received a $4.28 light that flickered a lot, and I wrote them asking them to send me a new one because both of us would waste time and money on a lengthy and expensive shipping process for something that is worth $4.28. They agreed right away and I tossed out the broken one and I have the free replacement here. Another time I ordered a $10.00 light that was supposed to have three modes. It arrived in perfect working condition, but with one mode. So I told them that it worked perfectly, but it wasn't worth $10.00 without multi-modes. So they agreed to give me a $3.00 credit. So I ordered another one. They sent me the same thing, a beautiful 1-mode light. I sent them a video of the light, that it worked perfectly but was not multi-mode as advertised. I wrote that I would be happy to give it one more try if they make sure that they get it right this time, and that I would pay $2.00 for the replacement. Without complaining or haggling they sent me a PayPal link for $2.00 and my light is now in the "Packaging" stage. So sometimes DX is really very reasonable and helpful with their customers. In other moments they make one want to rip his hair out. But you may want to try sending a video and asking for a free replacement, reminding them that shipping would cost both you and them more money than the cost of the light. Just be friendly and respectful and honest, and use simple sentences, since there is a language barrier. Good luck with that!

P.S. Ah, and another quick tip: If you send a video, you have to package it in a ZIP file, because their upload system only accepts a few file types, none of which are videos.

Thanks sb56637! I just tried doing an RMA but then they require a picture which doesn't make sense because nothing is visible broken but if that is what they require I'll do it. I've never packaged a video in a zip file so my questions are: What software did you use (hopefully free) and is it easy to use? Also, do you have to reduce the file size of the video? If so, I wouldn't know where to begin. Thanks again!

From memory, it has to be less than 2 megabytes in size. I've heard of someone photographing the absence of an order, i.e., their carpet. Their system seems to be rather inflexible but mostly they get it right in the end. They may need reminding though.

Fixing the light is not as bad as it sounds - but you do need a strong tool and a vice (vise) to get the head apart. The glue on the threads is tough stuff. You most likely will also need to find someone who can solder.

I'd wait and see if DX will make it right first. They can be a bit slow but, in my experience, they generally get you sorted out in the end.
