Preliminary XP-G 2 real word results

Nice work Match. Looks good.

Very interesting and good job Match.

I have a question though, shouldn’t the new XP-G 2 be S4 bin since it puts out 20% more light than an R5?

Where are XP-G2s available?
I try to cutter but $19 registered airmail with no tracking No.

I’ve seen them here:

10mm board

20mm board

It would be good to know how hard it can be pussed in Amps to use it with aspherics for throw.

In any case, a 20% more output than XP-G is a good thing.

here it is from INT-OUT

edit just notice they are sold out!

For aspheric set up.
20% more out put.
5-10% out put in term of narrow beam 125 and 115 degrees.

I plan to drive with 6x7135 V2 around 2.28A + 67mm aspheric.

I assume around 150,000± lux and 4xspot compared with XR-E .

That sounds good Pok,

Show us the results once you got it please :cowboy_hat_face:

BobK,

I think you'll like them. Once I see how they perform at 2+ amps they may start replacing a few of my xm-l's in certain lights. If I can get close to 600L otf with double the throw of an xml, that'll be perfect for a few torches.

Match. I do not have any idea how this would work hence the question. How would this LED work in the likes of the HD-2010?

Pencil beam with 120K lux? :stuck_out_tongue:

Honestly I don't know for sure (I don't own an HD-2010...sad I know). My guess would be similar to SashiX, in which the lux would definitely increase, but by how much I couldn't tell you. Not every reflector works well with emitters other than what they were designed for. It could be a ringy horrible beam, or it could turn out to be the combo of the year.... Guess we won't know till it's tried. (My money is on the latter!)

Thanks Sashix and Match. I dont really want or need a pencil beam light but if all goes well the weekend looks more exciting than it was. Match This will be going on a copper pill similar to my HD-2010 2 x 26650 battery mods https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/9637 . What amps would you start at. I would be using a kd 3040 amp or 2.8 amp 7135 driver. I would have to take of chips to reduce the amperage.

The perfect white tint is one of the most exciting “features” for me  After 2 years “playing” with various emitters, I can clearly say that premium Q5s have the best tint  Pure white without any “strange” hue. So, if this emitter has similar tint, I’m in :stuck_out_tongue:

Here you go, perfect driver for that emitter :stuck_out_tongue: (I can be wrong though)

SashiX read my mind. I was just about to suggest a similar one. With some good thermal paste and lapping the star to the pill it should do well. Keep us posted!

The white tint is awesome but it's the potential for some throw with this emitter I'm excited to see. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think an XP-G would do well with a flat bottom reflector like the one used in an HD2010. They seem to work better when the reflector angles in tighter around the emitter.

Or, maybe I have it backwards.

for pointing out that it may fail, party pooper . You have made me sit back and have a long hard think about it. Yep, after 10 miiliseconds a decision has been made. I will mod the stock pill as a mule first before getting carried away. I have picked up a couple of 1D tints this afternoon. I have no experience with this tint so it will be a new experience. On the color chart it appears very similar to the 1A tints. Do I apologise to Foy? I would except I think he is busy with his two hands. I'm not sure on what though.

Unpleasant though it be to consider, the possibility of Foy being wrong is close and ever present.

Yup, the shape, size, diameter of the reflector is very important. Proved it myself in Worm vs. Ti beamshots comparison. Almost identical reflector but the beam pattern is totally different.
