SKY RAY 9xT6 9xCREE XM-L T6 2x/3x26550/18650 5000LM 5-mode Super Brightness Flashlight---Brightness Over DRY

Can anyone take a guess how well only using just two TrustFire - Protected TF 26650 3.7V 5000mAh batteries rather than using 3 of them would work in this light? I wouldn’t mind having this light if I could use it in the smaller 2x26650 configuration. Thanks.

Thats a very small spring in the head to be handling all that current. Hope the switch is beefy too.

I am very interested, but I will be waiting for more data from independent tests before I pull the trigger.

I do agree, it needs a decent switch and springs though. The usual fare is not going to cut it….

Don’t worry about the switch, springs. The TF X100 can handle 7A at the battery compartment end (springs/switches) with no sweat on 2 x 26650 when nearly depleted. Not sure how much to the LEDs total, but i guess about 10-11A.

It’d be nice if it can match the TF X100 in output, with 9 LEDs it could run all day with that kind of efficiency…. (of course it still gets hot, but manageable)

I really thought this light would generate a lot more interest, especially when Ric has it in bold that it does 2 amps per LED. After all the excitment of the Apex here is a light off the mark stating the much desired output with heaps of LEDs as well.

Payday is only 2 days away, and sitting here at my desk I can see 20 odd single LED flashlights I have bought lately, so have been thinking it is time for a multi :slight_smile:

Well i think it’d be somewhat lower, and i think the head should be bigger (at least 90mm). LOL! :slight_smile:

And it’s not cheap, so that’s why everyone is holding out first and being cautious.

If it’s driven ever slightly harder than the TF X100, then it’s a good light. Don’t even have to spend 20 bucks on the KD driver. If tha’ts the case you’d need extremely good 18650 though, even with 26650s they would just be marginal.

Needs the option for neutral white, or a warmer bin of cool, and I’d get one after seeing a review with good results.

I Guess I Misinterpreted Previous Comments about the X100 because I was under the impression that the LEDs were driven acceptably well for a high-output light. Is it generally thought that it should have a stronger driver for optimum performance?

Also, how much perceptible difference do you think a driver replacement would make in the apparent output (X100)?

And last, how difficult would it be to change the driver in the X100?

I am about to order my first MULTI LED Light.

This one is literally identical, but with only 5 LED’s.

I can’t imagine battery life with NINE LED’s to push. Heat has to be an issue…

Maybe its just me. The 5’er can be had for $50. It comes down to $10 per LED and just how many you want!! Lol.

I’d for sure use three batteries to push 9. That’s 1 Battery per 3 LED’s! Can you imagine how hard 2 batteries are being worked??

18A is the teorethical total if all emitters were parallel driven. But don't really think it's driven this way.

9 emitters is an odd number. The easier way to drive them all would be 3 parallel groups of 3 series emitters each. This way a driver for 3 emitters could be used, and the total amp draw from the cells would be 6A.

Well, 6A is a big number anyway, I personally would not trust 18650 cells in this application, unless IMR. For decent 26650 it's all good.

Curious to hear about real world beamshot comparison. The 3 center emitters, with those extrasmall reflectors, would add to the total lumens output but the throw increment would be marginal.

Any thoughts?

I just pulled the trigger on a Sky Ray King and I was seeing how this is compared to it. I also want to know about how long this will stay on high. If this is as bright as I hope, imagine what the strobe is like :slight_smile:

I have tried with my 13pcs of multi XM-L lights, it’s quite nauseous. (my 4 DRYs have the older turbo driver with strobe).

I know I am probably the only one who likes strobe on these flashlights. I like to disorientate my brother with strobe for fun.

How much practical is this light ?

18A current mean 18Ax ~3.2V = ~60W of Heat
