Yeah I own it.
Guess where I bought it from (for 52 nd few cents)
4-cell but its still pocketable (in some sizey jacket pocket) And its strong.
Its nice flashlight, but I do not use it almost at all. (In fact I dont use flashlights in general so often, just bike light 502b T6, keychain light Tank E09, bed-light, Ultrafire H1(?), and when I go around the house at night, first I ge my hand on).
Its just for showing. I like it though, switch is ergonomic and good. Maybe Ill sell gold one than Ill buy black, with some encription. God Bless the U.S.A. or something like that
Manafont are explicitly stating that it’s a copy of the Sky Ray King. That’s why they’ve used the word “mimic” in the description. They did the same thing with their fake Eneloops.
So yes, they do sell “fake” products, but they are up front about it.
None of this necessarily means that this particular Sky Ray King clone is inferior though. It could turn out to be every bit as good. That’s just the way the budget flashlight game is sometimes.
That would be a slippery slope given that some Sky Ray branded lights are themselves copies of other products. The Sky Ray SR-5 (Seraph SP-6 clone) for example. Even the King itself is heavily “inspired” by the Nitecore TM11.
But I guess making a clone as well as stealing the name is going one step further.
I really don’t think that Chinese manufacturers care about any of this though, nor do I think that “Sky Ray” is necessarily even a company anyway.
The only visual difference I can see is that the Mimic has a matt finish while the kind has a metallic finish. Also the Skyray (pic 3) star goes all the way down on the king while the mimic (pic 2) does not go all the way down.
200 Hz is low isnt it? clearly visible if you wave the light in front of your neighbor or flash it against a mirror which you're trying to clean with a wiping cloth?
Yes the matte finish looks awesome. That’s the first thing I noticed. So tempted to pull the trigger but just don’t want to be a guinea pig. I wonder if I can come to an arrangement with Manafont to exchange this clone with the original later if I am not happy :~
Yes, it’s pretty clear you’re talking about the original so there’s no need to iterate the obvious. I only pointed out that it’s uncertain whether this supposed clone (which is what this thread is about, and presumably what you originally replied to vinhnguyen54) is exactly the same. Understand?
