TrustFire TR-006 Li-Ion battery charger

>>>>>probably best to avoid it!-Rick .

Now that you too have a broken one, I’d say it’s a definite avoid. Too bad. Was a nice-looking charger with okay specs, but after all this bad press, I won’t get within 10 feet of another one.

My temporary solution, I would like to have a 26650 charger though.

The seller agreed to send me two more chargers for free, to replace the three bad ones I got, so I’d be only short one charger.

Guess what, the two chargers they sent me are totally dead as well.

What the heck is going on? I specifically asked them to test the chargers before they sent them to me :frowning:

Well, I suppose they could have tested them and they could work on 240/220 and not 120? But that seems unlikely.

Man, you’d think after getting burned once, they’d check the chargers before shipping.

The charger boards from the following thread can be had for $1.78 with free shipping, solder one or two inside the bad chargers.

Wow, good timing! I just heard from two friends the exact same thing! They shipped them back to china, tested on 240v, BOOM! Work perfect!!!

Looks like there could be a defect in the 110/220 voltage setup in the charger :frowning:

I hope that’s the reason why. I just ordered one from lightmalls, and I did not stumble upon this thread until later.
Australia uses 220-230v AC so it should work

I typically use a hobby grade charger. I did get this Ultrafire charger included with an X6 and its pretty a pretty good charger overall. Keep in mind a good percentage of Ultrafire chargers are fakes. I know a seller on another forum
that has tested a bunch of them and found as many as 50% were poor
quality fakes. Check, you should have an Ultra fire hologram sticker on the back, for starters. The fake version doesn't have the rubber finish as the original and you should be able to remove the plug from the charger.

Thanks for the heads up. Mine went out with the trash weeks ago, so I can’t check, but it definitely had the rubber finish. I don’t know about the hologram though. Don’t remember.

Mind sharing where did you get yours from? i might be interested in one

So how did everyone’s TR-006 chargers end up? I had no problems as you described, maybe there was a bad batch or seller who sold a cheaper production line? I purchased one then a second one so I could charge all 3 26650s for my J18 and ak48 together (especially since they are slow), both run reliably, but charge to 4.14-4.13 regularly, nightly for 1-2.5 months (depending on which one you look at)…I guess I’ll have slightly better battery life this way.

This may b of interest

Well, almost 11 mo now, for my TR-006 chargers, they are still going strong. Bought a TR-008 charger and am using that most frequently now so I can charge 3x26650s, although termination is at about 4.15/4.16V again instead of 4.20 (I think this is actually a bonus for battery life), it doesn’t overcharge batteries left in it and it works nice and fast in comparison to the TR-006. My XTAR WP2 charger didnt make it 7mo however, and it would terminate at 4.21V…ironic the more expensive charger just didn’t cut it out of the 4.

All of mine that worked, still work. So that’s 2 of them, and 8 went in the garbage. Even the ones they sent me to replace the ones that didn’t work, didn’t work :frowning: lol?

Another thread, back from the dead! I guess i got lucky with mine, I bought just one TR006 charger and it has always worked great. Now if I just knew where it was. I couldn't find it after Thanksgiving weekend... I think I left it with my in-laws and won't be able to get it back until January...

I gave away my working ones. Once you charge at 2 amps it’s hard to go back to something slower. I use my XTAR SP2 almost exclusivly, 2 amps for my NCR18650B’s and all my 26650’s and 32650’s! Woot.

Nice, I’d imagine so once you have 2A! TR-008 is about 1.5A, but still so much nicer than TR-006’s <1A and 3 battery at the same time charging I use it more now. I think this is that same issue I saw before with another person’s TR-006 problems with a seller: some TR-006’s are made for different power systems of different countries and they put together/buy and send the wrong ones sometimes…when you want a replacement they send you one from the same wrong batch and it still doesn’t work… Sounds like you got a bad manufacturer/dealer on your TR-006s, though it doesn’t matter for you anymore. I don’t use them as much as my much faster TR-008 now.

Your link however, it says “XTAR SP2 charger for 14500 17500 17670 18650 18700 lithium battery”, but it can charge your 26650’s and 32650s?

As to thread back from the dead: yup, and I hope anyone with life/use updates on items raises threads “from the dead” with more info!

It charges 26650’s like a champ! Fits no problem:

For 32650 I use these magnet to 18650 adapters: http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?244152-charging-adapters-to-fit-ANY-SIZE-li-ion-into-an-18650-charger-(Pila-IBC-or-other)

Nice. How long do the king kongs and 32650s take approximately on it to charge?

The king kongs about 2.5 hours from 2.8v (low voltage shut off in my light).

The 32650’s about 3 hours 20 mins.
