Maglite Rebel Heatsinks

H22A over on the other site started selling Rebel heatsinks, so I’m going to use one for a XP-G2 build with an incan Mag and Rebel reflector (ordered some Rebel reflectors a while back and never used them). I ordered 3 of them, so 2 of them should be up for sale. Let me know if anyone would be interested. Probably won’t be here for a few weeks.

How much are you planning on selling them for? I would definitely be interested in one.

$14 shipped? They cost me a little over $10 each, and it will around $4 mailed including a padded envelope.

I'll take one when they land, please.

You got it.

Put me down for one too. :) Do you feel like selling a reflector to go with it or should I order from zbattery?

I’ll take one if there is any left also.

Sorry, Scaru and Chicago X have spoken for the 2. If there’s enough interest, maybe I can place a larger order in the future.

There definitely is. I love his heatsinks but hate the wait. Maybe you could be a seller for them on BLF? I would be interested in 1-2 more.

I have two reflectors, but one I cut down the cam with a dremel and it mucked up the reflector surface. If I can clean it well enough I can send you the other one that’s still in plastic, otherwise I will use that for my build. I’ll let you know.

Maybe I could do that. I assume I should order some regular D ones and some Rebels? Flat top only?

I'll take the screwed up one. That is fine with me as I'm sure you screwed it up less than I would. :P In the future you should know it works well to use tin snips to chop it off.

Oh yeah, I was going to say that my new way of doing it is to heat up a razor blade with a propane torch and cut through it like butter

I’d be down to buy a couple Rebel sinks if you ever get more!

JonnyC, ask who’s interested in heatsinks before buying. It doesn’t make sense buying too much more than you’ll need. H22A sells 10 or more for slightly lower cost so aim for orders in that range.

Dimensionally, the Rebel/Cree MagLED bodies are about 1/8” shorter than their incandescent counterparts. This extra 1/8” of clearance is more than enough to allow the longer Rebel reflector to clear everything. Putting a Rebel reflector onto an incandescent Mag will result in the reflector hitting the end of the body tube before the head has fully threaded on (give it a try and you’ll see the ring of missing reflective material on the back of the reflector where the contact has been made). The heatsinks that H22 makes has a raised lip that I’m going to guess will cause the reflector to hit before the head fully seats when using the Rebel/Cree MagLED body. Now, combine that reflector and heatsink with the longer incandescent Mag body and the head will bottom out on the reflector about 1/4” from fully threading on. Will this expose the O-ring? I don’t know. BTW, all “D” serial number Mag heads are the same regardless of which model it is.

Thanks for that info PCC. I knew that I’d run the risk of it not threading over the o-ring, but figured I could either chop the end of the body down a bit or just go out and buy an LED Mag

Well guys, I realized it isn’t worth it to order a big batch and be the BLF H22A supplier. There’s really not any money to be made, and it won’t pay for the hassle involved. I would just say that everyone should order 3 or more whenever they want one, then sell the ones they don’t use on here. Here’s the pricing btw…

If I would get the tracking, it would be $11.30 per Rebel heatsink. Add on packaging and postage, and at $14 I would be about breaking even. Makes more sense to order 3 of them at $31 w/o tracking.

Thanks for the update, and cheers for trying to help out the heatsink-hungry forum members !

I look forward to playing with the heatsink, when it arrives.

Yup, on an incan Mag the head doesn't quite screw on down to the o-ring using the Rebel reflector. I should be able to grind down the body a bit as well as file off some of the bezel on the heatsink so that it can thread on to at least the o-ring.
