What's the Best $20 Flashlight in the World?

Those are nice, but it’s also 50% over budget.

An Ultrafire 501 A $5.89

Plus the infamous Manafont/ Ultrafire 3 mode XML drop in $15.98

Add a couple 18350 IMRs for good measure and you have an 800 plus lumen pocket rocket

Well, aren’t you the crafty one?

Is that a case of putting a $500 saddle on a $50 horse?

Are there any heat issues? Call me odd, but I don’t want a flashlight that gets too hot to hold after 3 minutes.

This

Yes it will get hot on high, but that is what medium and low are for.

I wonder how much of a difference there is between the different brands that offer a “C8 T6’??

For super bright, cheap and easy to EDC, get a UF2100 5 mode and a solarforce stainless clip - should be about $20 total.

Pffft… dang it man, if there’s a button marked “high”… Ima pushin’ it! 8)

$19.95- Ultrafire C303.

Better than a UF2100.
My EDC.

What about the Balder SE-1? The XP-G version is $20, and should throw decently for a 1 AA light and be brighter with a 14500.

Also got my Keygos M10 for a bot more then $17 and that’s a nice light too.

I got a SF L2m and combined it with a Xml u2 drop in from ali express.( 3.3amp +) All up less than $24.
The best value would be the uf2100. Mine cost $15

The Thrunite TI is the only under $20 light I actually use these days.

If you double the budget and get a UF-T50 it will more than take the place of two $20 lights IMO.

LOL . . I thought that’s what your custom driver was for!

It is perfect for that but not for a complete $20 flashlight.

I had seen a couple positive reviews on the Balder, but it didn’t seem to be as popular or as well liked as some of the other models.

I’d like to stick with an 18650 design if it’s possible. Some of the lights on the list use 123’s and I don’t want to have too many different types of batteries to deal with.

True, but solves the High “button” . . of course, there is the Turbo “button”.

Seriously, we were talking about a $6 host, so the cost difference for your drop in over the manafont isn’t at all unreasonable.

Sooner or later, you're going to get a Solarforce. If it's later, when you do get one you'll find yourself holding it and staring at it, then looking at everything you bought before, then looking back at your new Solarforce.

In some cases this epiphany can last several minutes and be quite profound. Some people respond with repeated failed attempts to justify prior purchases while others, more comfortable in their own skin, accept it for the growth experience that it is.

Sooner or later, you will get a Solarforce. We can do this the easy way or the hard way.

I agree ..I 've always questioned Ericks love for the 501A ..tI think the solarforceL2m is a much nicer light and about 4 $ more .. It does either one cr123/16340 or an 18650 too..all for 10$

Maybe I like mine because it has a original foybezel

Ask for it by name

I think the xiware L20C is a great light for the price .. It's 21.70 Stainless steel bezel , serious clip , nice tint , square threads , decently high pwm, 2 programable modes ,Ramping U.I.,Shortcut to low ,Micro clicky ..feels better than a zebralight clicky ..Very low, low ..1 lumen ...

It's the best 20$ light out there ...

Oh wait.... there is no "Best light"

Foy’s comments noted without disagreement. But I like my 501 because it seems more pocketable than my SF 18650 L2 (don’t have an m).

Sometimes you gotta save pennies somewhere . . better it’s a host and not the drop-in. Besides, an extra host is also a spare battery holder.

Sooner, or later.

We all hope: sooner!
