question

OK experts, can someone enlighten me, I have an ultrafire wf 501d 2 cell as a ENC,

Can I get an extension tube to add another cell?
Will the XM-L handle a third batt?
If yes to the above, can anyone recommend a dealer for the bits.

Thanks, mike.

Probably not. Most drivers are made for a very specific voltage range and going above that can burn them out and break them.

99% certain you can’t with that light.

Why I asked, is because I’ve seen many references on BLF about XM-L’s being way under driven

To make an XM-L better driven you need more amperage not voltage. You could modify your ligght to be direct drive and then it would be more powerful or you could just get a new drop in.

Actually, output wasn’t the main reason for the query, it crossed my mind that with an extension tube, the 501d would make a handy little baton, (and legal ), and it would have been a bonus if the led could have handled the extra cell.

If you want to do that you just need a 18650 spacer. You could make one of out some aluminium rod wrapped in electrical tape.

Can you recommend a site for extension tubes??

I don't have a 501D so I'm not sure if it is compatible but I think that the solarforce extender should work. Here it is shipped from the USA from my favorite dealer. :D

I’ll drop em a mail.

Ok, good luck! I just noticed your in the UK so it may be cheaper to order from here.
