Cree is going to produce XM-L in neutral white

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking for a while and just wanted to say hello.

You might be interested in seeing that Cree announced today that they'll be producing the XM-L in neutral white:

I'm hoping that there will be some flashlights/torches that take advantage of these leds!

Best,

Hi there Jamj, welcome to BLF! We're glad to have you here.

Thanks for the update on the neutral white XM-L. It looks like the XM-L has been a huge success overall.

Welcome to BLF jamj. Good to have you here.

I don't actually own any neutral lights yet - can't afford to make all of my lights neutrals and I fear I might want to if I got one.

What tint are currenty XMLs? My NB XML is much warmer than the XPG-R5 in my Romisen RV-235. The RV-235 is cool white, so what does this make the XML?

XM-L's are coolish, but not quite neutral. So that's a T5 bin for the neutrals and a T3 for the warm whites. That's pretty nice. I'd be all over a T5 neutral.

Yeah I believe my XML is a T6 1A

All right, finally. I can't tell you how disappointed I was to pull up the binning document when they came out and see only cool white.

I just want U2's now! If they want to skill that and just make U3's instead that would be fine...as long as they can be done by next week :P

Next week!

What's wrong with last week? :)

Aloha and welcome to BLF jamj!

A whole week would have gone by without me ordering one! :P

I think it's sad that they introduce a new emitter with all the bad tints first .. The green tints are the worst for me ..A tint can ruin a light for me ..I think the XRE emitters were much better at color . Glad to hear this pretty quickly compared to the xpg

They always come out with the cool tints first. I think those are the easiest to make and get good brightness from. Then as they tweak them, they start producing neutrals and warms. The XP-G's were the same way.

Just wonder if they sell the cheaper stuff to china and save the best for last knowing there will be a market for it no matter what the efficiency is as long as it's pretty ,,<< at this point I'll trade efficiency or runtime for tint ...I can buy more batteries of charge up a few more times .. I really can't swap emmitters .. (I can /I won"t )

I'm impressed with a well driven nice tint xpg and a 14500.. i'm curious if an underdriven xml with a nice tint will work well with a 14500
