Amazon shipping slow lately?

I don’t recall Amazon shipping being particularly slow but I now have an order (that is in stock) that hasn’t shipped for several days. It just says “shipping soon”.

DX didn’t just buy Amazon did it?

I’ve been looking around to see if I can get the same stuff elsewhere for the same price and have it shipped sooner but with the weekend coming up I guess I’ll just wait.

Anyone else noticed slow order fulfillment from Amazon lately?

I haven't had any problems with them which is surprising since I live in the middle of the pacific ocean. I've ordered about 6 times in the last 2 months and the orders got here faster than their estimate shipping time. Almost all my orders were photography related though. Hope you get your stuff soon.

Nope, my Amazon orders have been a day or so faster than usual lately. I have Prime, so that means I’ve been getting overnight deliveries instead of the expected 2 day delivery. I even have an order through Amazon from another seller that was supposed to get delivered by the 9th, but looks like it’ll be delivered tomorrow.

I think I’ve figured out what the problem is. I don’t usually order directly from Amazon due to the local taxes (they are located here) and usually use one of their merchants.

Therefore I don’t usually get “free” shipping but I get the lowest prices and fairly quick shipping. Or I order directly from Amazon but don’t qualify for free shipping, pay for it but get it quickly.

I just read the fine print for free shipping and it mentions that they take more time getting a free shipping order together (still not shipped by the way).

I think I’ve learned my lesson with Amazon…don’t buy directly from them  Sales tax is 8% or so here anyway so it’s usually cheaper to buy from an Amazon merchant. As it turns out Amazon’s free shipping sucks anyway.

Amazon intentionally ships the super saver free shipping later. THey want to get people to pay for a Prime membership. With Prime, everything ships right away. I think they get the orders ready just as fast without Prime, but just hold them a couple of days before shipping. In the days before Prime, every order shipped fast.

That’s why I love Prime. It’s usually the best deal and has very quick shipping. I don’t care if it’s directly from Amazon or a merchant using Amazon fulfillment as I get the same shipping service either way. There are exceptions though. I recently found that having #10 Nestle Nido cans is cheaper to have delivered by Walmart. About 30-40% cheaper. It even costs less than the gas used to drive to a Walmart a few miles away. Shipping was 1-2 days. Ordering small inexpensive items from Amazon is often more expensive too. They started an add-on program that ships it for free with larger orders, but the core price still isn’t that great. These type of items are cheaper in local big box stores.

In any case, I use Amazon Prime because it guarantees 2 day delivery. I hate it when I pay for expedited delivery service with other vendors, only to have them sit on the order for a few days before sending it out for 2-3 day delivery. It’s like they think I’m paying extra so they can have extra time to fulfill the order.

My order has been sitting at Amazon for 3 days so I tried to cancel. I got a message that they would “try”.

I now have an email saying that they were able to cancel 2 of the 3 items. I found other places where I could get the other 2 items without paying for shipping (or taxes) so I’m getting the order a few dollars cheaper than I was getting it at Amazon.

I’m sure it will be shipped out right away however the only problem now is that it’s the weekend and Monday is a postal holiday.

Even if it’s not shipped out until Tuesday I’ll still get it at least as fast as with Amazon and I won’t be rewarding their “bad” behavior. Nor will I be using their free shipping again and I’ll be searching hard to find any other vendor with the same price.

This just wasted 3 days.

Amazon really sucks. I ordered 2 items from 2 other companies and had to pay a $3 fee for a small order at one of those companies (free shipping however).

Now I check my Amazon account and the one items still hasn’t shipped and now it lets me cancel (yesterday it said I couldn’t).

So now I order that item at the other company and have to pay another $3 small order fee. If I could have cancelled yesterday I would have saved $6 as the order wouldn’t have been a “small order”.

Dealing with Amazon isn’t worth it anymore. One of the items I ordered late yesterday from another company has already shipped!

i love love my amazon prime, orders almost daily!

I also experienced a long delay when canceling an order from an Amazon merchant. I think it requires acknowledgement from the merchant. I don’t have many cancellations directly for Amazon, but those have been instantaneous as it was for you.

I wouldn’t worry about a cancellation from an Amazon merchant. It’s completely their loss if they ignore your request to cancel the order because it allows you to write them a scathing review.

I currently have my first return for an Amazon order. It appears I get a full refund and return shipping was covered by Amazon. It was a direct Amazon order. Amazon merchants don’t have to accept returns.

I haven’t ordered from Newegg in a while, but I recall them having slow shipping too. Shipping is even slower from Woot and The Clymb…very comparable to DX.

Yeah, Woot shipping is pathetic. What I have started doing is getting 1 day shipping and then when it takes them a week to ship out my order they refund it while still shipping with 1 day. :D
