Totally agree with you! My first SolarForce was just the latest L2 complete. Since then, I’ve just bought parts and assembled my own versions of the L2M and L2T - both with HAIII heads and tails. 
Fun stuff, and amazing quality for any price. Congrats!

Yes, it looks exactly that. My lamp is a SF X80 however.

Interesting how the Solarforce parts pretty much thread onto any other Surefire or knock off host The Surefire parts don't thread onto anything but surefire in some cases thread halfway... btw - Anyone thinking of using a multi emitter drop in with these with a Solarforce host, i recommend it. Especially this M3 head with partial heat sink. The host heats up very quick and the head appears to dissipate heat fairly well.

Seriously, despite all the good things to be said about mil-spec, I doubt it. Tapered threads, yes; especially in conjunction with teflon tape. I have never seen any tapered threads on neither $urefires nor Solarforces. Now - if I may just come off as an ignorant know-all, surrey, me no mean to.
Just curious. Are there really straight-cut (ahem, I meant “rolled”, of course) threads which will ensure water resistance to, let’s say, IPx8 (permanent submersion, three meters deep, for at least 60 minutes according to DIN EN/IEC 60529)?

Besides, the O-rings make a good job of sealing the torch well. Foy here has put his SolarForce lights to numerous submersion tests, and I can second his results from first-hand experience, as well. SolarForce lights, like their $ureFire ancestors, are well up to bathtub- and shower duty; and will survive a whole day on the ground of the swimming pool.
They aren’t dedicated diving torches, though. At a certain depth, the water pressure alone will activate the switch.
