Supbeam K40: A Quick Pictorial

Nice work MoseM. Looks like a well made piece of kit.

@Bose - oddly enough for Europeans getting stuff from China is often less hassle (customs seems to take more of an interest in transatlantic parcels).

@BanglaBob - I tend to agree - the SupBeam name is horrible.

Still, interesting light - as is Jakes.

Let's not forget that it's driven harder as well !

I would if I could, but shipping costs from the USA is a killer! Something in the region of 50 bucks :frowning:

Just had a quote myself - $98 shipped to UK.

Where do I get this light for $108?
I want one…

way too many similarities with thrunite tn31. check out the pix from:

i’m starting to believe that supbeam is the OEM for thrunite. of course both parties probably won’t admit it. and of course supbeam will have to tweak around a bit with the CNC program so that the two won’t look too similar. the internals seem to be fundamentally the same, just tweaked a bit…

is this a K40 or a TN31??? don’t be misled by the color LOL

what about the MCPCB and plastic centering disc?

BTW i just received my K40. quality is excellent, easily at par with fenix, 4sevens, et al. way way way above XXX-fire levels. i would even dare say it’s a bit better than 4sevens…

I think I agree. Supbeam states their OEM capabilities here . I realise that just because someone on the internet says something doesn’t make it true, but there’s too much of a similarity for it to just be a rip-off. Anyway, I’ve taken the plunge and ordered a Supbeam. Just need a bit of black duct tape to block out the horrible name

here’s another supbeam product, the scorpion LOL

view of the tail. someone please tell me this isn’t a Scorpion LOL

i’m convinced now. supbeam is indeed the OEM for a lot of thrunite stuff

aka the Thrunite T10

even the product descriptions are almost identical

The Supbeam L10 isn’t a million miles away from the Thrunite T10 either. I think the firefly modes in many of their lights is a bit of a giveaway.

eddit>> woops, you are on the case!

how about a link?
thanks

I posted a couple size comparisons in this thread

The Supbeam / k3 illumination k40 look like a tn30 reflector and led with a tn31 body and head the only difference I noticed was the tail cap

is the reflector of the TN-31 and K40 the same size and depth?

Nope. The K40’s reflector measures approximately 69mm wide and 52mm deep, so while the diameter is almost the same, it’s not as deep as the TN31’s (64mm according to turboBB’s review).

Similar light?

L3 Illumination K40

No same as. Specs are almost the same.
