i’m starting to believe that supbeam is the OEM for thrunite. of course both parties probably won’t admit it. and of course supbeam will have to tweak around a bit with the CNC program so that the two won’t look too similar. the internals seem to be fundamentally the same, just tweaked a bit…
BTW i just received my K40. quality is excellent, easily at par with fenix, 4sevens, et al. way way way above XXX-fire levels. i would even dare say it’s a bit better than 4sevens…
I think I agree. Supbeam states their OEM capabilities here . I realise that just because someone on the internet says something doesn’t make it true, but there’s too much of a similarity for it to just be a rip-off. Anyway, I’ve taken the plunge and ordered a Supbeam. Just need a bit of black duct tape to block out the horrible name
Nope. The K40’s reflector measures approximately 69mm wide and 52mm deep, so while the diameter is almost the same, it’s not as deep as the TN31’s (64mm according to turboBB’s review).
Has anyone comapred the Supbeam with the L3 Illumination. How much does the extra 0.5A give in terms of throw for example? OR can it be stated just by looking at the reviews done so far….?
Hi MosesM. I got my K40 just the other day. Gosh, that thing is darn well-built, irrespective of price. The machining, the anodizing, the fit and overall quality of the light is terrific.
I ordered it based on your report and I must say, it HAS to be the best-buy for under $100. And DHL too! It arrived 2 days after being shipped.
None of that 3 week waiting period via China post. Btw, I don’t have a whole lot of disposable income (I’m semi-retired) so I limit my purchases to <$100.
Many thanks
