For those who look for decently priced eneloops...

True. Where do you get the C & D cells?

Plus what charger are you using?

I need some D rechargeables and even 9v rechargeables for my smoke alarms.

9V rechargeables aren't a good idea for smoke alarms. AFAIK nobody makes LSD 9V batteries. You'll be charging them every week or two.

9v LSDs:

No idea how good they are.

There're probably others, didn't check it thoroughly.

i got the tenergy batteries off ebay.

i use this charger from all-battery: http://www.all-battery.com/tenergyT9688universalcharger01127.aspx

the problem is charge time. that charger will take a VERY long time to charge the ni-mh. if you can get a hobby charger that does ni-mh and charge via that method

seems tenergy now has LSD "Centura". i have premium which i havent recharged yet, cause of its size its still holding a charge in my non-used Maglite 3D

they are only 1000mah less and LSD, man wish i had seen those prior to me buying the Premium ones. Oh well. at least they have nice discharge rates!

Thomas Distributing. And the http://www.thomasdistributing.com/-MAHA-MH-C808M-AA--AAA--C--D-Battery-Charger_p_244.html charger. And li-ions ARE dangerous. Anyone who denies that is-ignorant. The charger is the most crucial part. A good charger will increase the safety. And all cell phone chargers are designed into the phone, and *can't* mess up. You can't unbalance 16 18650's in a cell phone. Try putting 4 LiCo RCR's cells at 5 amp draw, tell me when you come back.

Li-ons aren’t dangerous. Stupid people are. If you discharge LiCo 16340s at 5A you get what you deserve.

IMR and IFR are "safe" and have a higher energy density than NiMH.

I can get a set of four 2500mah Duracell or Energizer for that price. Why go with those 2000mah Eneloops? Are they better in some way? Curious, thanks.

Yes.

The Energizers will have no charge worth mentioning next week. Any Energizer. If you are lucky, next month.

Eneloops are usable out of the box next year....

Eneloops beat most things for actually usable capacity.

There are cheaper alternatives though. I own more than 50 Eneloops so can't say about the alternatives.

The extra capacity isn't worth it unless you plan on using it right away. I had Energizer 2500's and they went bad quick, real quick. Then I went to the Maha PowerEx due to the rave camera site reviews, but they only last a couple of years. I haven't had one Eneloop go bad in the few years I have had them....

From what I understand, Eneloops are more durable when dropped on the floor, so they are less likely to leave you in the dark...

I've bashed my eneloops to hell (they've got dents to prove it) and they're still fine. They also have decent performance under drain.

i have revived alot of "bad" energizers with my tenergy charger. they work reasonably well now, but they are LSD, so i have to charge before use

i have YET to have a single li-ion explode. i use tested and proven chargers, one battery at a time on most chargers and check voltages.

i do not use too many multicell lights either that can over load the batteries if they dont have perfectly matched internal resistance.

there are plenty of threads on how to safely handle li-ions, and ni-cd and ni-mh are just as dangerous. all batteries are, its all about safe handeling procedures.

If you have one explode... well, an explosion is not a leak. One of the mods at CPF had a tailcap explode out of a 2x18650 flashlight (i think), miss his face by a foot, and fly 30 feet out a window, shattering it and landing across the street. Nimh don't explode.

ni-mh can explode if contained. while not as common, its because people generally dont abuse them like we have seen with li-ions

li-ions react with air, therefore the faster burning causes an explosion when contained

the CPF member abused a 3x18650 flashlight. drawing over 5 amps off 3 unbalanced 18650s. its poor practice to leave a battery in a charger overnight, and he payed by breaking his thumb and half his house

a SINGLE CELL li-ion is just as likely to explode (when using quality cells) as any other battery.

(when using quality cells) The only cells I consider "quality" are LG, Panasonic, Sony, etc., and the respective protection circuit makers for them.

I'm pretty sure most people here know about the rare issues with li-on cells after the much publicized sony laptop battery incidents. Its almost like you have a vendetta against lithium cells and are trying to scare people or something lol.

^at least someone sees what i see.

li-ion is still safer than lead acid.

just saying

I think mitro has got it in one...

Cheers

I'm really amazed that people on cpf and blf don't know that duracell precharged are real eneloops rebadged because Proctor and gamble bought duracell .I buy these off ebay for almost a buck each .. My last 20 was 27$ shipped ..iKnow people are from all over the globe on blf But I'm constantly blown away that people are paying huge money for real or at times fake eneloops .. there are NO fake duraloops ... Am I telling someone something they didn't already know ?? this has been common knowledge all over the internet for many years ... just google Duraloop ..

The way to tell is the white tops .. white tops mean eneloop . black tops are durabirds < ahh rayovac??Hybrids ??

I dunno . i forget .. they aren't poison .. the goal is simply white top

blacks are made in china ../// whites made in japan

Schnoop and pennywise i think will still sell you their older deals .. even though they are like a woot or whatever .(One day 1 item)...BUT they are smart enough to take the cash If you contact them .I've read they will imediately give you a invoice number and have you send them cash I think it was AAA18$ for 12 ??at pennywise And 21$ for 12AA at schloop?Schnoop?..<< this is not the greatest deal and they are old batteries but old with nimh maens squat ..all of them came up according to the miryaids of threads on them the schloop deal was older eneloops 2008 DAte ??I think they are sister sites any way I bought 12nimh AAA energizers for 9$. easier to just hit people off ebay .. holiday was obviously the time to knock outt super deals but year round there are lots of duraloops around .

.Anyway the duracells are the easiest way to buy eneloops, know they are real and get them cheap.at least in the states ..if I were in europe I'd buy at least a few of the brand new XX version

sorry for the rambling post hope it helps someone

Hey your in the uk.. buy the new ones .. the were like 4 $ usd each off amazon free shipped
