Well this complicates my decision making. Was pretty set on a HD2010, but now I am rethinking it with this X8 deal.
Not exactly sure why, but I think I like the look of the X8 better. That is not really priority criteria though. The dual cell extension tube is a plus.
If this really is Rey of BLF Mini GB fame I would feel comfortable buying, but I would still try to use paypal.
Purchasing the X8 from DX, you are getting a genuine Trustfire. Mine is exceptionally well made. Very well packaged with the Trustfire box as well.
Any U2 driven properly will have an advantage for sure.
I have nothing against DX, but I am not too big on aliexpress. Rey however seems to be a stand-up seller.

You prolly know this but in case ya don’t…….
When you order for instance from Rey’s business through Aliexpress they don’t get their money until you receive the item and are satisfied with it. IOW, payment to them is withheld in a form of ‘escrow’ whereby you the Buyer really have complete control over your payment which is ultimately subject to your satisfaction. If you aren’t satisfied they are incentivized to make it right so they can get paid. It’s a fair system and IMO just as solid as PayPal’s. If you’re concerned about your CC, then I would suggest whenever possible order it on your lowest limit card if that makes you feel a little better. You won’t have any problem though. Aliexpress doesn’t mess around with any of this sort of shenanigans either.
I bought that light a week or so ago. I should have been clearer. Since he is selling reall TF stuff, is there some way to see his other lights?

I respectfully disagree, and but I don’t want to start an argument … Over the past 12 years, I have helped design and worked as a consultant on MANY multi-million-buck web sites. If you believe ANYTHING any web site has to say about how they handle transaction money, I have a bridge for you to buy. 
Just because a site says they do something doesn’t mean they do anything like that.
No site is going to come out and say: “Our security practices are ridiculously bad, but go ahead and take a chance anyway. Who knows, you may get what you ordered.”
The stuff I have seen BIG-DEAL web sites do with CC numbers and your supposedly “secure” data would curl your hair. Nah, forget curl. It would cause your hair to stand straight up and fall out. It’s not so much that they’re crooks, it’s just that they don’t care. I have seen many many sites where just about anyone in the organization — from page designers to ad staff — can easily DIRECTLY access all CC info.
I know. I know. Who is this ubehebe guy? He’s probably making it all up. All I can say is that I’m not making it up.
Paypal is pretty foolproof because they prevent merchants from seeing your CC info, BUT people forget that it’s easy for any employee with a rudimentary understanding of various shopping carts to scrape your PP info as it is submitted, ending up with your PP account name and password, all they need to efectively drain your account. Fortunately, PP has a crack fraud team who immediately flags any strange account activity and can trace it back to the offending site. However, the crooks can keep a low profile and drain a few accounts here and there and escape detection pretty well.
Still, I think, PP is the safest online payment method. And because PP is the defacto online payment standard, if a site doesn’t take PP, there is a reason for that, and that reason is NOT good. They either got PP cut off or PP wouldn’t let them use PP. In other words, they were ripping people off in some way. PP wants to make money too. It’s not exactly easy to get bounced outta PP.
I took the chance and ordered the light, but I think people should be aware of the risk and go into it knowing that 6 months from now, their CC could end up filled with weird charges. You’re right, if you reserve one low-balance CC for online purchases, you’re pretty safe.
And I totally agree so no argument from this guy. 8) The only reason I feel pretty comfortable with this is because of Rey’s involvement. I think anytime anyone puts their CC info out there PP or not, we’re taking a risk regardless of crack fraud teams etc. I guess we really have to monitor our CC charges for this sort of stuff across the board. Makes me kinda nervous but that’s the way it is unfortunately. Nothing in this world is 100% when it involves humans. lol
Speaking of other TrustFire lights, I plan to ask Rey about some others like the X100. I already have one but I’m considering getting another if his pricing is decent. One thing I do know for sure, it will be a genuine TF and that’s the most important detail to me.

Just received my X8 inthe post today. I just wanted to say, fantastic service from Rey again. Nicely packaged, fast postage and great communication.
With regards to the X8, yes, it is the brightest single LED light I have, marginally brighter than the Lightmalls C12/C8. Build quality is terrific. Agree with Rusty Joe above, the button is a touch sensitive to changing modes.
Ya, that’s still very important in conjunction with everything else - especially with great service. 8)
Got mine today. Will take it out in a bit to run it through its paces. Build quality (except for a DOA switch) is fantastic. Shipping was fast. Packing was great. Extra extension tube. Gaskets and glass included. Really REALLY like to see if Rey offers any more “real” TFs with this level of killer quality.
But before I go any farther —- You can take the light out of China, but you can’t take China out of the light. Arrived with a broken switch. :–0 Like others have reported, slightest movement of light would cause mode changes. Then I couldn’t turn it off. Then I couldn’t turn it on. EL DEADO. What the ???
Did some trouble shooting. Light works fine with another tailcap from another torch. So I changed out the switch for the thoughtfully provided extra swiitch and VOILA finally rid of that silly annoying jumping mode problem. But more importantly, I now could TURN THE LIGHT ON. Nice machining and a superb pill/heatsinking combo are the stuff orf a light addict’s dreams, but the light kinda has to work or all the frills and fancy lathing is beside the point.
Will take the broken switch apart and see if it can be fixed, but I am a little scared that the second switch may follow the first into brokenville, leaving me with a fancy but dead light. But we shall see. I suggest others who got this deal, try the second switch if they are having probs with the modes changing by just looking cross-eyed at it. The switch construction of the spare is slightly different than the original, and it works great. Perhaps the dead switch is the reason for the low price?
On first look, doing a little white-wall hunting, it looks like the beam is very c8ish. Spot is there but not as defined as a ke-5, hd2010, A0 clone or the double-battery Small Sun, a recent BLF belle of the ball. Not that that’s bad, I actually like it better.
Tailcap reading is around 2.7ish with a DMM with not-great leads, in line with what others have reported, very close to what some claim is the ideal perfect tailcap reading of 3.5.
Now for the fun part. Let’s take this sucker out and she what she does!!!

they at least provided a spare. Not many other lights come with that deal - like including a spare lens for instance. Who does that? I’ve never had any problems with my X8’s including the switch. And I use mine a lot. Before trying to take it apart, make sure the spring is nestled against the inner contact ring, and if that isn’t the issue spray it with something like CRC 2-26, or electronics contact spray. That switch prolly doesn’t take too kindly to prying apart is my guess from the looks of it.
Here’s this kit which includes the switch. You’ll have plenty of spares. 8) Either way, I’m sure Rey will send ya a new one regardless. I’m glad ya like it. Now for some real fun.
Well, need to do some stuff that won’t wait, so just a quickie.
A fast-and-dirty test with other lights show the x8 is neck and neck, but these are some of my brightest. I’m sure it trounces the keygos m10 for example and the uniquefire c10.
HD2010 beat it, but not by that much. Ditto with the ke-5. But those beat just about any t6/u2 single emitter budget on the planet. Trustfire f15 bests it for 15 seconds and then about ties when it sags. Ditto with the A0 clone. Uniquefire 2220 is a tie. And that’s about all I could carry for a quick jaunt to the local pocket park, looking like the light nerb I am, with torches sticking out of every available pocket.

I’ll check out about a replacement switch. Thanks for the tip. This one seems way sturdy, but then so did the original. The original may have some hope yet. I’ll play with that when I get some time. Truly an ubeatable bargain for the price.
I wonder if a u2 (same driver) would boost it the needed hair to best the 2010 and ke-5? hmmmmmm.
And btw what batts are ya using? Also, when ya say neck and neck does that include factoring in the X8’s spill? Since the X8 is not only a thrower but a spiller which is why I ask.

Tonight I used some of kuma’s 2900 protected panasonics charged to 4.20 each. But ordinarily I use almost all pack pulls. X8 seems to not get appreciably brighter with one battery over two. Was playing with that before.

Well, yeah sorta. As best as you can approximate anything. I skipped the A0 clone and the small sun because they are too spotty for comparison purposes. I’m testing variously at 50-100 yards at a park without obstruction into a line of trees and houses (which I’m sure the owners love) so I can see the spills and spots pretty plainly. Doing the lights actually side-by-side at the same time. But just quick an dirty. Nothing exact.
Like I said, the x8 seems to have a kind of c8ish beam pattern to my uneducated eye. It also has the same diameter reflector, give or take a rat hair, as my three c8s. The F15 beam is very similar, probably the closest beam composition and brightness (EXACT same size reflector but f15 is slightly shallower). Ditto for a similar beam with the UF c10 (shallower reflector) and UF 2220 (slightly smaller diameter reflector and shallower). They have a spot but plenty of spill. Ke-5 is also similar (exact diameter it looks like, shallower reflector though). (The ke-5 is by far my favorite light; only 7.2 ounces with battery and only a hair less bright than the 2010).
It’s late and I’m half asleep so I hope this makes some kind of sense.
Hd-2010 has more spot obviously, but it’s in a class by itself. It’s great as a spotlight, as you know, but problematic to me for walking or general use because I end up with this 1-foot diameter eye-searing orb bouncing on the ground 10 feet in front of me, even on low power.
I hope to get out of the OC by next week and home to Death valley, if my healing-from-surgery knee cooperates Then we’ll do some REAL tests. What I really want to try is go to this overlook and shoot the beam down onto flat desert about 500-1000 feet below. That will give relative shape differences and brightness. I’m hoping to snap some pix, but we’ll see.
