You Looking at Flashlights Again !

I know how that is, I also have the terrible affliction of always being sure I've made the wrong choice as soon as I've paid.

One of us! One of us! ONE OF US!! :)

That's the thing really, the vast majority of people have no clue at all how much LED's have progressed.

Most people don't know things have gone past 5mm LED's.

Welcome to the slippery slope. Start thinking now about places to hide all those new purchases...and excuses for when she finds them.

The best part is, once you have enough of them, people (gf/wife/husband/spouse/hubbie/family/friends/whatever your situation) start to forget which ones you had and which ones are new :D hehehe.

Yes. It is a problem.

Aloha and welcome to BLF Mr. Frugal!

What kind of RC trucks do you have? I have a couple Duratrax Thunder Quakes but I haven't run them in a looooong time.

You know it. It's such a good feeling, when the postman brings one of these yellow envelopes...and you know there are three others are on the way...

Time to study the new arrivals page!

I have 2 nitro trucks, an Team Associated Monster GT and Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium Pro, both 4 wheel drive running .26 engs. I also have an electric Team Associated RC10T3 its two wheel drive. I havent run them in awhile and nitro is up to 28 bucks a gallon last time I checked, but a gallon lasts me a long time because I am always working on them more than running them. Thats not because they break alot I just enjoying working on them. I do want to move to a brushless motor and LIpo battery setup one day for the RC10 truck. The power of the brushless stuff has surpassed nitro now, its insane what they can do. I still love nitro though, from being a mechanic all my life. Electric just lacks the sound of nitro.

I'm waiting on 5 of them now! One I didnt buy its a warranty switch for my L2R from Solarforce.

Actually its 6 forgot about one order. My wife looks at me funny every day when I ask her if she got the mail yet.

Nice trucks you got there. That's one thing I remember is that we always spent more time cleaning up and fixing our trucks. I think I need to get mine running again.

Mine sit for months and then I'll mess around with them. I'm always swapping engs and pipes, different carbs or grinding on something to make it lighter. Thought about gettin totally out of it but that stuff is not selling too hot right now and you lose so much. The only thing storing them hurts is the batteries but I keep them charged up. I have 8 Sanyo Cardina nicd AA batteries I use in my controllers and one C cell Cardina for my glow charger. They are some good batteries, sit forever and still stay up. I only have one 7.2 volt nimh pack for the electric truck and its done for in about 10 mins run time in the electric truck. I use it in the starter for the nitro trucks and it works fine for that though.

Don't think I've said so already.

So welcome to BLF Mr. Frugal.

Enjoy your time here. I do!

My assistant never asks if I'm looking at lights again, but that's just because dogs can't speak....

Thanks again to all and Don I have enjoyed your reviews and input to this forum. Learned alot. I know its just a flashlight but there is something really intriguing about it that I have not put my finger on.

I haven't said my 'welcome here' yet, so welcome here Mr Frugal! You hit it on the nose with that one. I have no idea what it is about these lights, but its so hard to stop browsing, researching, and worst of all, purchasing. Very much an addiction that I'll admit too. So bad that I am looking at my first higher priced light, the Fenix Tk35 right now :P

Thanks, and I was really looking at the Fenix lights before I found this forum. They do seem like a nice price point for quality of light you get.

Welcome to the site Mr. Frugal! Thanks for joining, you'll fit right in here! :)

Welcome to BLF!

"You looking at flashlights again"

I get that all the time. lol

I have a Tamiya Evo V, track car setup for drifting. I have the cheap hobbyking BL setup 100A ESC 8.5T equivalent motor, and a 2s2p 5200mA Lipo. The motor/esc was $100, and the batteries were $22 each.

I expected 20-40 mins runtime from each battery, but with a drift setup, im getting 1.5-2.5 hours comfortably on each battery, and ive still got enough power to burnout my track soft rubber slicks, Infact, too much power to use full power, ill still spinout if i wham full power without being careful with it.

And no exhaust oil, while being quiet enough for me to drift on the streets past midnight.

Blasphemy ..!!! Arugh He said "It's just a flashlight "...oh no he's been talkin to our wives ..

Welcome Mr Frugal . Great name ...I like that ..a guy who gets straight to the point .."i want it ,and i want it cheap "..!!!!

Its funny around our house because its a big joke that I'm cheap and I always come back with I'm frugal, there is a difference! My daughter still laughs and says "aka cheap".

Tamiya makes very good stuff. Thats not bad $ to get into brushless. Its dropped alot, especially the batteries. One friend of mine was into helicopters and had more money in two battery packs than I did in one of my trucks. Even though I like the noise of nitro there are times I wish it was quiet. Fire up a nitro truck and a crowd gathers, usually a bunch of kids wantin to hold it wide open into a tree or something. Nitro even when you know what you are doing is still a pain sometimes. It would be nice to just pop in a battery and know its gonna run with no carb adjustments. I am seriously thinking of selling my Monster Gt truck and gettin into the brushless stuff. I bought the GT used and fixed it up and its a solid truck but I bought my other truck brand new (left over first gen model on sale) and it could be switched to brushless from nitro easier. Plus its a truggy which handles so much better than the monster trucks and is actually more durable and simpler to work on.
