BTU Shocker, Fenix TK75, Thrunite TN31, L3 Illumination X40 or K40, Supbeam X40, Zebralight S6330, ****What should I buy?

Which is a better thrower the TN31 or the K40?

TN31 (that's the reason I bought mine)

Thanks, I just ordered the TN31 combo with the T10…. Now the wait…

What is the price for TK75? I hope they are lower than TK70 as it is smaller and less material.
BTU at the price of USD150 is way too expensive in my opinion. But really hope that it is better than TK70, not just throw, but also workmanship and quality.

One question - why do you doubt that the shocker will not throw as far or have a lower output than a TK70?

SERIOUSLY, why? Do none of you trust Ric? Would he lie to us? No. If it has the same head as the TK70, and is driven harder and not to mention uses U2 instead of T6 used in the TK70 why wouldn’t it throw further?

TK75= $199.99

I agree 100%. The much more compact size of the K40 coupled with the meaningless throw advantage of the TN31 made it an easy choice for me. The control ring slop on some of the TN31’s has also been addressed with the K40. On top of that, the company that sells it has a phone that they answer.

The Shocker costs the same as the newer Fenix offering but uses the old Fenix head. Fenix wouldn’t be offloading the excess old heads to Ric unless they had something better in the TK75, which they do.

If you’ve got the $200 budget, get the Fenix TK75. If you don’t like it, flip it….you will have no trouble moving it here. My guess is the Shocker and the TK75 hit the market at the same time, and then Shocker buyers get to wonder why they paid the same for last year’s Fenix head.

EDIT: no experience with K40, but saabluster has excellent service!

Possibly it is not out yet and no one really have it yet. Driving hard is not the only factor, material used, heat transfer via thermal paste, long term circuit reliability, brand name with warranty, etc that make a better flashlight. As I said, I am not looking at throw alone. My post didn’t doubt BTU out throwing TK70, TK70 is considered old product, anything copying TK70 mechanical design/part and driving hard more efficient LED will out throw it.

My guess is Fenix will continue to sell TK70 as TK75 is not really replacement model. TK75 is aiming market of new 3/4x18650 flashlights trend. And Fenix has done it with stackable design up to 12x18650. The price is indeed lower than TK70, which is nice. Hope that it will put some pressure on TK70 price though so that I can get another TK70 if price is really good. I can easily pull trigger on lights below USD250, that is why I still don’t own Olight SR90/95/X6.

Just found that with CPF08 coupon code, it is U$184. Very good price indeed. Fenix can’t sell it above U$200 anymore as they are late to market. Thrunite TN30 promotional price U$159 is very smart move though offended many sellers with stock. Possibly they are negotiating and more and more TN30 will be lowering price.

Some would argue that the TK70 head is better than the TK75 head. It’s all subjective, meaning it depends on what you like. One isn’t necessarily better than the other.
One is geared towards throw, and one is slightly less geared towards throw, that’s all.

Also, did saabluster mod a K40?

Well I’ll say that the BTU Shocker may be one heck of a light. I personally don’t know. But what I do know is it will take one heck of a flashlight to out throw my TK70. It’s easy for the competition to talk about how good they are. But seeing is believing.

ILIKEFLASHLIGHTS, remember to post your opinions comparing ST90 with TK70.

I’ll tell it like it is.

The TK70 might be old technology but there still is nothing in it’s price rage that will throw that far and have that much spill, the light itself is just too long. I guess I will just wait on the reviews of the Shocker. Any idea of head size of the X40 or S6330?

The head diameter on the K40 is right at 3” So there 25.4mm in 1” so 25.4 x 3 =76.2mm. The reflector is right at 2.5” so that is right at 63.5mm. That’s the actual reflector area being used or inside bezel to inside bezel.

BTU shocker review is out. What do u guys think? K40 or BTU Shocker?

i think you should buy all of them

if i had to choose just one of them i would get the zebra light

i got lucky… i got the light from CouldUseALight for $170 shipped…
i told him that i got the same light from LApolicegear.com on sale for $170 ( 199.99 - 30% off= $170/free shipping but back order for 2-3 weeks)
if he’s willing to sell me for that price then i’ll cancel the order… lucky for me he said yes… as the light was in pristine condition.
BTW he still have TK70 on sale too

i don’t other high power light beside Thrunite TN30… but i can definitely recommend Fenix TK75 for it power and the distance it can throw

I’m planning on getting a Sup Beam K40. I have a lot of Solarforce 18650’s and was wondering if there will be any issues if I am going to use it for the K40? Compatibility, etc? Thanks!
