New Sky Ray King Driver?

Is this what Ric said "improved build quality" ??

Do you have the old sky ray king? So this direct drive driver is bad?

It’s potentially horrible… there appears to be no way for it balance the currents to each LED… and I seriously doubt that they matched the LEDs for Vf and I over the operating temperature range.

Can you post a picture from the bottom side of the driver, please?

I have the same question… Which one is new and which one is old?

The head with the 4 set of three holes in the outer ring appears the newest model.

Yes,
upper image: old buck driver,
lower image: new direct drive driver

Thanks for the images!

Hi Guys,

I just got a new Sky Ray King ‘black’ from Ric and it seems to use the old good driver

… anyway one of the LED doesn’t power on so I’d like to give a look at the wiring just in case something got loose.

I’ll appreciate your help in disassembling the driver circuit since I’ve no clue where to start from !

Good to hear RIC is sending out faulty flashlights…

hmmmm, i have one of these on the way. wonder which driver ill get?!

Fingers crossed then, hopefully the driver should be the good one … and everthing should work as expected.

was yours out of the second so called higher quality batch just out a couple weeks ago??

First post here, long time C*F member. Can you hold the Sky Ray King in your hand on high for extended time? Is there a way I can be sure to get the old style driver when I order? and last what brand batterys are best to use. Thanks

  1. i think 20 mins or so and it will be getting quite hot….
  2. i have one coming this week and im keen to know which driver i will get :~
  3. im going to be using xtar 18700 2600mah batteries in it, any quality cells should do id say as long as they are all same make and mah.

That’s that damned lead free solder… f*g greenies thanked for that. First thing I do is fix the joints with real solder.

Just PM Ric from CNQG.
I think the sanyo 2600s works great in the SRK, or u may get some protected ncr18650b, the intl outdoor’s version is a good one.

Just stumbled across this...

But it says max rated 800mA...not sure if I like that

They are not 800mA, it's the same driver used in the real SRKs and does around 2.4A per channel.

Nice so that stupid neutered driver I got in my SRK for $30.99, this will “perk” it back up…or burn it out

Hello (English through http://translate.google.com/
I turned on the LEDs in parallel.
Cut the track to the chips AMC7136.
changed to a new microcontroller tyni13
with a new firmware.
added a voltage divider 20k-5.1k
