I was wandering - What to do for 2013? and it came to me surfing flea-bay … The Holy Grail of batteries , the much vaunted - advertised - claimed capacity of 3000mAh in a AA battery.
So the invitation goes out to everyone that wants to take part in the search for the Holy Grail of batteries .
This thread will be for posting results of battery tests , of batteries claiming Legendary Status ! [ High Capacity ]
Lets call it at 2500mAh + [ claim ] or there about . Charge at 500mAh discharge at 500mAh and report the results here at BLF .
Be they good or bad , it matters not . Even if you know they will suffer Epic Fail , lets get it on record .
This is too much for any one person to do , so I invite all with chargers capable of discharging @ 500mAh to join in the Grail search !
Put a couple of dollars towards finding out the truth [ shaft some Ebay sellers on the way ] , and put false claim to rest .
Funnily enough their lies don’t quite sufficiently surpass the reality yet. With legitimate 2500-2800mAh batteries on the market, you’d think they’d be trying to pass off 3500mAh these days.
The search has begun , for a true 3000mAh battery :
Two batteries arr better than one !
1, Ultracell 3000 , was first charged then discharged at 500mAh resulting in 698mAh capacity , a disappointing and fraudulent 2302mAh short of the advertised mark
2, GooP 3000 , charged + discharged at 500mAh resulting in 734mAh capacity , a disapointing and fraudulent 2266mAh short of the advertised mark
Well , it would appear that anyone buying either of these batteries are going to be defrauded by a whopping 75% + on the promised 3000mAh capacity .
Obviously neither battery is the Grail of AA batteries! so the search will continue .
i’ve got some, and that capacity is nearly accurate at 500ma discharge (>2500) but they cheated - they’re the biggest AAs i’ve ever seen and won’t fit in some things
Well , a few Dollars to prove one way or another - some are prepared to do this others not .
As for the epic fail - its not about anything but putting the proof out there ! Evidence / fact / truth ! something sorely missing in the world .
So its a community service [ flashlight community ] .
I think those two batteries cost all of $2.50 , so now if some one does a search , they may find the true capacity of these batteries and move on the the next rip . [ such is life ]
And I think I have mentioned this battery crap to Ebay , but ? Probably to much $ involved for the truth to get in the way .
So perhaps this means this thread is concluded, if a mainstream manufacturer pushing the envelop has to make the batteries almost too big to fit the appliances, then 3000 mAh is not doable yet.
I will be looking forward to you results. Ive used plenty of there 2200mAh with no issues at all except with three kids I dont have any left. I will have to stash these ones.
I have some Sanyo Harmolattice batteries that were just over (and under) 2500mAh. I don’t recall if I ever did a break in cycle on them though.
I made a webform you input the batteries and values and it pops out on the spreadsheet, I was going to make it public for everyone here to put their results too but I kind of lost interest.
