What you got today

I received my 763 from Exduct today. It arrived sharp enough to shave hair from my arm! Lockup is tight without any vertical or side to side movement. It is a little stiff to open by just pushing the thumb stud. But releasing the lock allows it to open with a flick of the wrist. Being a lefty, the first thing I did was move the clip to the other side. With the clip holding my jeans pocket firmly against the textured G10, there is no way the knife is going anywhere by accident. The G10 combined with the nice jimping make it unlikely to slip from my hand even when wet. I'm quite happy with the 763 and may get another one.

It's not that they don't realise there is a diffrence, it's more that they don't care what the law is at all.

This is long an rambeling and probably best ignored...you have been warned! :P

While I do have a TV it's not been used as one ever - it's connected to a DVD player and the like, so I don't need a licence.

I used to get letters every couple of months telling me I had to have a licence. Their letters are terribly presumptive and are written as if they know you watch TV.

About once a year I would phone them up pointing out that you are not actually allowed to threaten people with undue legal action and that would be the end of the letters for a while.

Four years ago a disgustingly arogant TV licensing goon banged on my door, I wasn't feeling great so I ignored it. Then she started banging on the window and shouting "HELLO...HELLO" .

She said who she was, I told her the situation and then closed the door...more banging. So I opened it and asked her what on earth she wanted, she shouted that they were going to take me to court unless I paid up or let them "inspect" my house. She ranted some more and then back to the idle threats. I informed her that I was withdrawing her implied right of access and that if she didn't leave immediately I'd have her arrested, I closed the door on her.

I then emailed the TV licensing and the BBC complaints department informing them of their removed rights and that it would apply to any agents acting on their behalf. TV licensing sent an apologetic confirmation and that's the last I heard from them.

Thanks for the photos and review photon1k! It makes me all the more excite to receive mine :D

Today I got a shipment from KD with a neutral white XP-G R4, some 18mm isolator disks, and 5 of the new 1400mA 5-mode driver. The 18mm disks are too big for a P60, but I can trim them down as needed. I was able to convert the driver to 3 modes so that it is just like the Shining Beam driver. Then I'll put these in the Ultrafire X1 I just got and have a nice 3-mode neutral compact 18650.

You're quite welcome. I've got a couple two other SRMs on the way. I'll post pics when I get them.

What a coincidence.

I have got today the same XP-G R4 neutral white and some 16 mm insulator disks.

I have got also 5 driver boards, not 1400 mAh but the new 1560mAh 5-mode version.

i receved my box of 3 safe-lights

My SHININGBEAM envelope came today. I received an ITP A3 EOS. What a great light. Its really pretty impressive how nice the output is. I am ordering some 10440s tonight. There are mixed reviews out there on how this light will handle 10440s. I don’t want to wreck it but I want as much output as possible. Anyone have any firsthand experience running this light on a 10440?
I was going to put this light on my keychain but I have never really liked extra stuff on my keys and didn’t like it on there right away. The clip is really nice so I think it has found a home clipped to the shirt pocket of my uniform.

I got the same drivers. I measured 1450mA, so I'm not sure why they call it 1560. I was very happy to find they can be switched to 3 modes. Let us know if you're able to get any other mode groups out of it. It's probably just a matter of connecting the correct pins, but I would bet it has 4 mode groups like other NANJG drivers.

I was afraid to buy the 16mm disks without a picture. Are they white cardboard with sticky backs? Don't know why KD can't post a picture.

I haven't put my neutral in a light yet, but I did hook it up to my driver to do some testing and it seemed pretty cool white to me. I'm hoping it will look more neutral in a light. This is my second, so I can compare it to the first one I got which was definitely neutral.

That light kicks all kind of butt on 10440 (80 lumens on NiMH, maybe 200 lumens on 10440 and that's with the Q5). I wouldn't leave it on for long on High though as it gets hot pretty fast. And it will wear out those 10440's pretty quickly (not just discharge them, which it will do in 10-15 minutes, but wear them out; I'm on my second set now). Make sure you get the unprotected ones because the protected ones are too long to fit. I keep mine on my keychain and like the lobster claw to quickly remove it from my keys when I need to. I like the clip, but I took it off since I'm using the keychain anyway.

Today the mail lady rang the bell and i got a few parts from lighthound and an ultrafire U20 from manafont cash back campaign. quick shipping from both and thanks! to Jim@Manafont. yesterday i received a solarforce L2 from solarforce-sales.

I will try later whats about the drivers.

The insulator disks are a bit stiffer andthicker than the 18mm version.

I didn"t test the LED yet.

I read brteds reply too late. I already sent in an order for some protected 10440s. Can you change or cancel a dx order?

I got a package from DX today with a couple of 18650s and this light http://www.dealextreme.com/p/sipik-ck361-cree-q3-wc-3-mode-180-lumen-white-led-flashlight-with-strap-1-18650-50104 The light looks pretty good but I will know more tonight when I can see how it throws outside. The quality seem ok, the tube is kind of thin when comparing to my romisen. You can tell that there are a few less machining step on a light like this as compared to something like a romisen of fenix. There was a big black chunk of crap floating around by the reflector but it was easily removed. The three modes work good although i dont think a light like this needs a low mode but no big deal. It has a reverse clicky which I really dislike but can deal with. Looks like a good light, we'll see tonight.

This order passed another dx order that shipped two days earlier and arrived faster than a manafont order that was placed four days earlier. Oreder date for this one was march 14th. Thats not too bad at all.

Solarforce-sales: L2 gray, three tail switches, a remote switch pad

DX: Sipik SK68, various switches, ten keychain 22000mcd, a smooth P60 reflector

Manafont: Buck - Multi-purpose Tool - knife (looks tough, ordered black, got blue...), Saneremu WA3 401 (tiny, very nice), Sanremu PR-603 (nice, nothing special).

As long as it hasn't packaged yet, you can cancel a DX order. I only had to do it once, but it was easy and they were very cooperative.

i changed the order to unprotected cells. i have never used unprotected cells before. I gather you just make sure you dont discharge too far and dont charge unattended.

Just did a test outside of the SIPIK CK361. That thing throws like crazy for a $15 light. I like the beam when throwing better than my romisen RC-29. Has more spill when throwing. The beam is as ugly as can be inside but for its intended use it looks great. I cant wait until someone makes an XM-L recoil.

I try not to go below 3.6V and will recharge at 3.8-3.9V if I can. The good thing is it is a pretty small cell, so there isn't nearly the energy that you would have in an 18650 if something does go wrong.

I got n order from DX in the post today, I took some photos to show what I got. Sadly it seem that the card reader I bought of ebay about a month ago does not infact work, there is a chance £2.11 is not enough for a card reader :P

Anyway, this is what I got today :-

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/mechanics-soldering-paste-50g-7952

I've not tried it out, but there are many possitive reviews on DX.

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/xrg-r5-488lm-6300k-led-white-light-emitter-3-2v-1500ma-58370

It had somehow slipped my mind how small these were as the package is identical looking to the XM-L but almost half the size.

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/2-7v-6v-3w-cree-circuit-board-for-flashlights-15mm-2-7mm-25518

For some reason the two I got don't have the resitor shown in the picture installed, I'll have to test them to see if they actually work with out one.

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/aluminium-alloy-pill-shaped-keychain-27551

While it looks the same in the photo as the ones you can get everywhere this is actually quite big at 25mmx85mm.

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/rabbit-shaped-tags-100-piece-pack-54727

Because they were to adorable not to buy! I got a few and will stick them in with presents for people.

One of these

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/waterproof-sa-r2-stainless-steel-cree-xp-e-r2-wc-5-mode-memory-240-lumen-led-flashlight-1-aaa-47661 Just tested it with a Duracell AAA, I would say, it does around 120 lumen with that one. I don’t have a NimH AAA around. Order date was 11/25/2010. First shipping got lost and the second finally arrived.

Two of these

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/oem-2-18650-lithium-battery-charger-110v-240v-ac-13820.

Another KD C8 - Sadly it draws only 1,6A. Not a big problem, I still have a spare KD 2,8A driver laying around somewhere.

Two p60 drop-ins from MF. One is an XM-L 3-mode, it draws only 2A but it's still quite nice. I'm not going to change this driver. The other one is a Q5

Two Solarforce L2i body tubes and one flat bezel. One will get the Q5 above and the other one a R5 drop-in.

That's a big day! What color L2i's? Are you going to use 18650 or 3xAAA?
