Thanks for the pictures ezarc. Is there that much difference between the two different lights in actuallity? You must have a very understanding sister in law.
The “ultra low” is 65 lumens, its what Nitecore call it in the manual.
And yeah there is quit a big difference in light output, the PA40 puts out enough light to see pretty much anything in viewing distance.
I prefer PA40 but I’ll try to make myself use the EA4 more and maybe Ill warm up to it a little more.
It feels like the EA4 is made for baby hands (my hand takes up just about the whole handle of the PA40) and thats probably the biggest reason I prefer the PA40 over it, but it does pack a lot of punch for its size.
Couldn't two LiFePo4 cells be to much? I.e. with a 7135 driver it will run fine off 4 AAs, but two LiFePo4s would kill it. (Since they're 3.4 fully charged)
This thread looks friendly. I see an opening for a talented craftsman here to show us all how this could be made in the average workshop for us poor people. Nudge nudge, wink wink. Please Mr Lumens.
Thanks for the great review!
I hadn’t noticed the bezel gap(thanks! ), but I did indeed notice the rattle…
I wonder who is going to take it apart first and see if the issues can be remedied(or maybe we should just email Nitecore and ask them :quest: ).
Aside from the bezel not screwing down, the rattle inside the head and the green to purple tint.
Now it is stuck at 1 brightness level (one of the mids I think) and it cant be changed, the flashing modes still work but appear to be only the same brightness that the light is stuck on.
I just changed the batteries and it seems ok, I didn’t notice the blue LED flashing fast but I wasnt really looking either.
I’m going to feel silly telling him that… oh well. I’ll tell him after he replies.
But still I forgot to mention here the dark artefacts in the hotspot as well, if its on something less than 10 meters or so away and move it, its quite easy to follow the dark patches and even 1 section of it looks brighter than the rest. I could see orange flecks on the inside of the dome, it kind of looks like rusty orange lint.
I don’t really want to send it back but a $59 light should be flawless, shipping will cost $20+ from here as well.
He said they checked them all and sent the worst ones back and that Nitecore already knew about the problems with them.
