Review: Black Shadow Terminator 4*U3/4*18650

I just got home from a neighbors house. I'm wasted!.. Happy New Year to you my friend!

All the broken photo links are repaired. Clicking on the small images will now take you to the fuller sized versions. Sorry about that.

Good review Johnny, good to see you back too. I may have to save up for this light, looks awesome.

I think I’ve found my birthday present, I’ll be ordering in neutral though I think.

I would go for the U3 version, maybe? The difference between 4xT6 and 4xU3 might be visible (at least if you know it  ).

The difference would definitely be noticable - nw compared to cool white….

I wouldn’t get het up over u2 vs u3 though, same tint bin, you’ll only tell the difference on an integrating sphere.

I really need to get one of these in 2013… I wonder if blackshadow will release neutral versions as well as possible xml2 versions in a few months?

Thank you Johnny for that amazing review. This one is on my list for 2013.

Check the link above…

Thats for sure, I was more thinking about the difference in overall brightness, not between the different tints.

You have to remember that this is definitely an outdoor light and not one for regular indoor use due to the nearly 500 lumen low. Having a light made for lighting up a lot of area at a good distance you just may prefer the U3 over a neutral T6. There will be a noticeable difference in output between the two. I measured a 400 lumen increase over the U2 version with the U3. You should see at least 400 lumens less than the U2 with neutral T6 making a difference of around 800 lumens between the U3 and NW T6. Outdoors that difference should be noticeable but, granted, only if you ever saw them next to each other. As they say, ignorance is bliss but for many here, just knowing they could have had it brighter is enough to cause dissatisfaction.

ah! didnt see that thanks!

That’s a good point, there was 14 left in stock when I posted the link, we’ll see how fast they go as I won’t be ordering before February. Guess I have a month to make my mind up….

So your saying it won’t be much good for checking behind the sofa?

Excellent review of what appears to be a quality torch.

Thanks for taking the time to make the review, as I know they are very time-consuming to do well.

I thought outdoor light is more suitable to use NW for better penetration, while indoor light is more suitable to use cool white for better brigthness.

Excellent review! Can’t wait to see the outdoor beamshots! Are the led bases 14 or 16mm? What is your take on the tint?

Off topic, What do you use to sharpen your khukuri’s, besides your finger?

I have used the sanding paper over a mouse pad method on my 21” Chitlangi but It has not produced a very sharp blade, I was using 2000 grit automotive sandpaper maybe I should use coarser sandpaper, what do you recommend?

Great review!! Thank you for taking the time to share.

NICE…Is that about 75 yards to that little pair of evergreen trees in the first photo?

thats a good review but at 134$ i dont think its a budget light :stuck_out_tongue: it wouldnt be an even match if u buy 3x sky ray king and put it up against a shadow
